Making my wife’s magic band go purple

Hey all! Brand new to the boards here and waiting for our new member emails to arrive any day now...that we're anxious or anything...but as it pertains to this topic, I just had a few questions.

If I read through this thread correctly, we'll receive ONE code that can be linked to one person and THAT person will have their magic band go purple?

Let's assume my wife sets it up, then I would need to call MS to get another code that I could then use?

I'm a little unsure of how that will all work because, well, I don't have the account yet! But this was something I've been looking at and if there was something/anything we could do at first initial login or setup to ensure both of magic bands turned purple, it might be an easy time for us to do so! Appreciate all of the info on here, by the way. We're so excited to start planning trips and these boards have been information overload for newbies like us, which has been awesome.

My wife and I are on our original purchased DVC contract. A resale contract. We each received our own email with an access code last November 2020 to activate our own login for the DVC membership. We each linked the DVC membership to our own individual MDE accounts. (In your profile of your MDE account under “Memberships and passes” will show “Disney vacation club member”). Made reservations (split stay) then linked our reservations to each of our MDE accounts for that. We linked our MDE accounts to each other for the trip to make and see our plans for each other. We made our first trip as DVC members this May 2nd. Stepped up to the magicband scanner at MK and each of us received the purple with “welcome home” announcement then green for access!!! Was exciting!!! Each park and each use got it!! Deactivated a magicband and activated another to wear and change up the look. It worked perfectly as well.

You know you don’t have to deactivate one MB before you wear another, right? The only people who have reported trouble have been people who had ten or twelve or more still active. I’ve had five or six at a time without any problems.

Yes. I’m just a weirdo and feel strange having more than one active at once in case the other with me might get misplaced, pick up a signal, or be transmitting lolll

All owners who provided an email will get it. When we bought with my adult kids as owners, each got their codes to set up a DVC log in.

My DD, who is listed as the 5th, owner turns purple! The others have not been since being an owner.

So, if she gets her code, she can set it up.
 

Hello all ! I am new on here! My husband and I just bought direct at Riviera this past February , no one mentioned a purple light ?! What is this ? I did link MDE to my DVC account , I have tons of magic bands from past visits when they are free so we will just be re-using them , what do I need to do now ?
We light up purple when we enter the parks ?!?
 
Ditto. I am listed as a DVC Member in my MDE profile. Can somebody explain what “turning purple” means, and any other hidden gems I should be aware of as a DVC member?

You don't need to do anything else. When entering parks the touch point turns purple and now says Welcome Home as well. It used to be inconsistent but since the fall reports seem to be much more consistent that it works.

Bump. Trying to avoid a marital disaster here. We are new DVC owners and each have MDE accounts with our DVC membership listed in those accounts. But the tickets for this upcoming trip and our past magic bands are all in my MDE account. How will her MB connect back to her MDE to trigger the "welcome home"?

The tickets and MBs are linked to her MDE profile by her MDE being linked to yours via your F&F list. If she has her own DVC login and if her DVC affiliation is linked to her MDE (under My Profile -> Memberships & Passes), she should get the purple circle and Welcome Home. Both of you should be aware that it doesn't always happen, though, and it has nothing to do with one of you being more special than the other!

I'll try to remind her of that, lol.
I just extended "sharing of plans" from my MDE to hers, so I think that should do the trick?

Yes, sharing plans should be enabled in both directions for best results! And so should sharing photos, in case your MB picks up a ride photo and hers doesn't.
 
I was just in WDW for a week, own several contracts, and didn't get purple once. :(

I used to always get purple.

Me too! Not once did I get it.
Interesting. We were there 10/14 - 10/22 and I got purple every time at all 4 parks. Maybe it has something to do with the new effects for annual passholders that they've just introduced.
 
Not working here either. 10/25 - 10/31. My wife read somewhere that they are starting a new color for AP holders. Maybe they are revamping the entire system?
 
We were there a week and a half ago. I got purple the first half of the trip, then it stopped, and it was just green for the last few days.
