UPDATE HERE!!!
Finishing up our day at AK!
Ready?
We headed from the train ride toward Camp Minnie Mickey in order to catch the next Pocahontas show.
We stopped at the shops in Africa for a few minutes and Gramma and Abby found some stuff they needed. Gramma bought a figurine for her living room and also a bracelet for Abby ~ she had to even the score after buying the boys binocs.
We then high tailed it to see Pocahontas and got there just in the nick of time! That’s okay… plenty of room! We find a row off to one side where no one else is sitting so I can put my foot up on the log in front of us.
Gramma loved this show! I don’t think she knew what to expect and she really enjoyed it a lot. Here are a couple shots from the show.
After that… ice cream anyone? None for me and Gramma but the rest of them would like some. See how pretty the ice cream place was decorated?
And some trees nearby.
After they were done with their treat we got in line to meet the big guy himself! Mickey!
The line was pretty long but he’s worth it, right? Well, apparently not to Abby. She’d rather wait in line for Minnie! So she and Gramma go wait for Minnie and we stay in line for Mickey. While in line we started chatting with the couple behind us. They were really nice and just as we got to the end the line we found out they were from Michigan ~ where we are originally from. They live not too far from where we grew up. Small world, indeed.
Here are the boys with the big cheese! Love the holiday sweater!
Sorry I don’t have a pic of Abby with Minnie. That is on the photopass CD. I’ll post it as soon as that comes.
From Camp Minnie Mickey we headed toward Dinoland. See how festive the big dino is?
Evan and Owen had fun in the boneyard!
A cute snowman.
We came around the Triceratops spin and see there is no line at all. Then we notice it looks like the ride isn’t running. Then we notice several CM’s with hoses spraying everything down. That is when we got hit with the unmistakable smell of vomit. ICK!!! Someone tossed their cookies on the spin!
Moving away from there as fast as possible, we opened our wallets and randomly threw money at the midway game CM’s! Here! Have our dollars! We have extra! (That’s what it feels like anyway!)
I thought this guy was cute so I took his picture.
Trithrowupatops Spin was back open and Tom and the boys actually wanted to ride it! Ew… go ahead, we’ll wait. I tried to get a pic but just couldn’t get one as they were just going around too fast. No wonder somebody barfed.
By now it was getting to be time for the Jingle Jungle Parade! This is a great parade!!! We loved it the first time and were happy to see it again. We were lining up a little late so we didn’t get a great viewing spot. There was a couple in front of us that had their kids up at the rope and they invited Evan and Owen to stand in front of them too. More of that Disney magic!
Here are some pics from the parade… not too great because of our spot. But you get the idea.

A festive elephant:
And a festive giraffe:
Santa Goofy:

And last but not least… Mickey!
When the parade was over it was time for our 4:30 ressie at Rainforest Café. Look out boys! There is a huuuuuge alligator behind you!
My kids have been looking forward to these for months! Rainbow icees in a souvenier cup!
And my yummy drink in a souvenier light up cup!
My mom had one too. We noticed that a lot of people who got them were turning them off. Boooo! We left ours on and I vowed to drink everything in it from that day forward! (Haha… it’s been sitting in the cupboard unused since we got back! One of these days though!!!)
Our meal was very good. Tom had the ribs aka Mojo Bones. He said they were very good. I had the Planet Earth Pasta. It was penne pasta with Italian sausage and roma tomatoes tossed in olive oil and marinara with mozzarella on top. Very yummy! Gramma had the macadamia crusted snapper. She really liked it but couldn’t finish it. Abby happily ordered popcorn shrimp off the kids menu and she liked it but there was too much for her to finish! My mom packed her shrimp in with her leftovers to take home with her. Evan had mini hot dogs with chips and Owen had mini hot dogs with a banana. Everyone was very happy with the food! Of course we had to share one of these at the end:
Tom noted that it was almost 7 and we should hurry up or we’d miss the last tram to the car. We hurried out of RFC without being able to check out the gift shop at all, quickly snapped a picture of the lit up tree
and hopped on a tram at 5 minutes to the hour, assuming it was the last tram. Boy, there were a lot of people still standing around the oasis taking pictures and stuff. Looked like a lot of folks would be hiking to their cars!
We load up in the car and start to drive out of the World. It is then that we realize it is only 6 o’clock! Not 7! We got a laugh out of it and figured it saved us from spending money we didn’t really need to spend in the gift shop! Try as we might to talk Gramma into staying another night, she insisted on heading back to Tampa.
I realize now that I was going to use my witty ways to tell you how Abby whined and complained about her feet all day again! But I forgot! And now I don’t feel like going back and weaving it in. So I will just tell you now. The child whined and complained all day long! We decided we really needed to do something or one of us was going to put her out of her misery! Oh, I’m kidding! We wanted her to enjoy her vacation and if she was complaining that much there must be something more to it than just wanting new shoes. Tom checked and there was a Sport’s Authority nearby so they walked out with Gramma. Gramma hopped in her Mustang (yep, she’s that kind of Gramma!) to head home and they hopped in the family wagon and went in search of Sport’s Authority.
The boys stayed behind with me. They watched Elf on tv and I iced my ankle. Okay… I watched Elf too! Son of a Nutcracker, I love that movie!
After what seemed like 3 hours, Tom and Abby returned with these:
I say to my first born, “They are nice. Now, we just spent 30 bucks to make you happy. You have now lost the right to complain about your feet. Even if these are the most God awful uncomfortable things you ever put your feet into… you will not complain. Do you understand?” She nods and says yes. And all is right with the world and she walked happily ever after.
Up next… Downtown Disney and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
