Making Good on a Very Merry Promise! COMPLETE!

UPDATE HERE!!!

Finishing up our day at AK!

Ready?

We headed from the train ride toward Camp Minnie Mickey in order to catch the next Pocahontas show.

We stopped at the shops in Africa for a few minutes and Gramma and Abby found some stuff they needed. Gramma bought a figurine for her living room and also a bracelet for Abby ~ she had to even the score after buying the boys binocs.

We then high tailed it to see Pocahontas and got there just in the nick of time! That’s okay… plenty of room! We find a row off to one side where no one else is sitting so I can put my foot up on the log in front of us.

Gramma loved this show! I don’t think she knew what to expect and she really enjoyed it a lot. Here are a couple shots from the show.

After that… ice cream anyone? None for me and Gramma but the rest of them would like some. See how pretty the ice cream place was decorated?

And some trees nearby.

After they were done with their treat we got in line to meet the big guy himself! Mickey!

The line was pretty long but he’s worth it, right? Well, apparently not to Abby. She’d rather wait in line for Minnie! So she and Gramma go wait for Minnie and we stay in line for Mickey. While in line we started chatting with the couple behind us. They were really nice and just as we got to the end the line we found out they were from Michigan ~ where we are originally from. They live not too far from where we grew up. Small world, indeed.

Here are the boys with the big cheese! Love the holiday sweater!

Sorry I don’t have a pic of Abby with Minnie. That is on the photopass CD. I’ll post it as soon as that comes.

From Camp Minnie Mickey we headed toward Dinoland. See how festive the big dino is?

IMG_0868.jpg

Evan and Owen had fun in the boneyard!

IMG_0857.jpg

A cute snowman.

IMG_0862.jpg

We came around the Triceratops spin and see there is no line at all. Then we notice it looks like the ride isn’t running. Then we notice several CM’s with hoses spraying everything down. That is when we got hit with the unmistakable smell of vomit. ICK!!! Someone tossed their cookies on the spin!

:crazy2:

Moving away from there as fast as possible, we opened our wallets and randomly threw money at the midway game CM’s! Here! Have our dollars! We have extra! (That’s what it feels like anyway!)

I thought this guy was cute so I took his picture.

IMG_0866.jpg

Trithrowupatops Spin was back open and Tom and the boys actually wanted to ride it! Ew… go ahead, we’ll wait. I tried to get a pic but just couldn’t get one as they were just going around too fast. No wonder somebody barfed.

By now it was getting to be time for the Jingle Jungle Parade! This is a great parade!!! We loved it the first time and were happy to see it again. We were lining up a little late so we didn’t get a great viewing spot. There was a couple in front of us that had their kids up at the rope and they invited Evan and Owen to stand in front of them too. More of that Disney magic! :cloud9:

Here are some pics from the parade… not too great because of our spot. But you get the idea.

And last but not least… Mickey!

When the parade was over it was time for our 4:30 ressie at Rainforest Café. Look out boys! There is a huuuuuge alligator behind you!

IMG_0884.jpg

My kids have been looking forward to these for months! Rainbow icees in a souvenier cup!

IMG_0885.jpg

And my yummy drink in a souvenier light up cup!

IMG_0886.jpg

My mom had one too. We noticed that a lot of people who got them were turning them off. Boooo! We left ours on and I vowed to drink everything in it from that day forward! (Haha… it’s been sitting in the cupboard unused since we got back! One of these days though!!!)

Our meal was very good. Tom had the ribs aka Mojo Bones. He said they were very good. I had the Planet Earth Pasta. It was penne pasta with Italian sausage and roma tomatoes tossed in olive oil and marinara with mozzarella on top. Very yummy! Gramma had the macadamia crusted snapper. She really liked it but couldn’t finish it. Abby happily ordered popcorn shrimp off the kids menu and she liked it but there was too much for her to finish! My mom packed her shrimp in with her leftovers to take home with her. Evan had mini hot dogs with chips and Owen had mini hot dogs with a banana. Everyone was very happy with the food! Of course we had to share one of these at the end:

Tom noted that it was almost 7 and we should hurry up or we’d miss the last tram to the car. We hurried out of RFC without being able to check out the gift shop at all, quickly snapped a picture of the lit up tree

IMG_0889.jpg

and hopped on a tram at 5 minutes to the hour, assuming it was the last tram. Boy, there were a lot of people still standing around the oasis taking pictures and stuff. Looked like a lot of folks would be hiking to their cars!

We load up in the car and start to drive out of the World. It is then that we realize it is only 6 o’clock! Not 7! We got a laugh out of it and figured it saved us from spending money we didn’t really need to spend in the gift shop! Try as we might to talk Gramma into staying another night, she insisted on heading back to Tampa.

I realize now that I was going to use my witty ways to tell you how Abby whined and complained about her feet all day again! But I forgot! And now I don’t feel like going back and weaving it in. So I will just tell you now. The child whined and complained all day long! We decided we really needed to do something or one of us was going to put her out of her misery! Oh, I’m kidding! We wanted her to enjoy her vacation and if she was complaining that much there must be something more to it than just wanting new shoes. Tom checked and there was a Sport’s Authority nearby so they walked out with Gramma. Gramma hopped in her Mustang (yep, she’s that kind of Gramma!) to head home and they hopped in the family wagon and went in search of Sport’s Authority.

The boys stayed behind with me. They watched Elf on tv and I iced my ankle. Okay… I watched Elf too! Son of a Nutcracker, I love that movie! :rotfl:

After what seemed like 3 hours, Tom and Abby returned with these:

IMG_1150.jpg

I say to my first born, “They are nice. Now, we just spent 30 bucks to make you happy. You have now lost the right to complain about your feet. Even if these are the most God awful uncomfortable things you ever put your feet into… you will not complain. Do you understand?” She nods and says yes. And all is right with the world and she walked happily ever after.

Up next… Downtown Disney and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

Okay, what's up with the bug? I saw one yesterday while reading a post and it started me! I thought it was real on my screen for a minute there:laughing:

Great update and great pics! I'm glad you got to meet Mickey.:goodvibes

My kids love those slushies at Rainforest Cafe, too. What did you have to drink? Joe got some sort of banana drink one time when we went there and I thought it was GROSS! I don't like anything pineappley, either. They don't have much in the way of alcoholic beverages there that I like. Last time, I think I just ordered a mudslide.:lovestruc

EWW on the Triceratop Spin. I like what you renamed it!

Do they actually stop running trams to the car in the evening? You would think they would wait until everyone is out of the park to stop running them.:confused3

YAY! Abby finally scored some crocs? Did she like them? She's turning out to be pretty high maintenance.:rotfl:

We didn't do Pochohontas last time. I bet the kids got a kick out of the animals.

Yes please update me on the croc situation. Are they really all that?

Are your kids like mine...they could play in the bone yard all day. They even go over to the other side lay in the gravel and make gravel angels. :lmao:

I think Abby and I would get along great! I :lovestruc her selection of shoes. I can vouch for the tram..... it will go until the last person is out.... OH and so will the busses to the resorts. One time MK closed at 12 and we did not get on a bus until 2:45 AM. We always close the parks.

What in the world were you doing for almost 3 hours?? Were there that many people waiting for the buses?

I just read through you last few installments. I had the picture taken with Captain Hook... It is on my trip report. I did not look like I knew what I was doing though... lol
Your trip report is great. I am excited to hear more. I have never been to the rainforest cafe. We used to have it at my mall, but now it is a Cheescake factory. oh well....

Loved your update Nicole! We love Rainforest Cafe too though we've never been to the one at AK - ususally end up at Downtown Disney. The AK parade looks really good!

Geez Kimmy! What were you doing?? Hopefully having fun and not waiting for a bus that whole time!

Your reports are so well written and fun - I'm giggling out loud all the time when reading them!!!

Hope its not long to wait until the next installment... this English lass doesn't have too much patience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 I like my new name for that ride too!

Not sure what my drink was called. Carribean something. It was fruity. But not pinappley! I liked it! You could choose from 3 drinks and get that cup. My mom ordered one that was green... I think it had midori in it... but she ended up with the same thing I ordered. :confused3 She didn't mind though.

As for the trams... on our ride in in the morning the dude said the last tram would be running at 7 pm... we took him seriously!

Yes... Abby did/does like her crocs. She said they were very comfy and any shoe that she can add jewelry too is def. the shoe for her! And yes... she IS high maintenance!

We didn't do Pochohontas last time. I bet the kids got a kick out of the animals.

We really like that Pocahontas show! We were giggling because some of the animals were not cooperating. The porcupine was being shy and they had to coax it onto the stage. Very cute.

Abby swore by her crocs! She said they really were more comfy than her tennies.

Really? Gravel angels?

great update and pics

Thanks Scott!

My sons didn't exactly understand what they were supposed to do either. I think it would've been helpful if he had shown the picture beforehand but he was trying to be all secretive... I guess so they'd be suprised when they saw it all done.

RFC is really good but so is Cheesecake Factory!

Loved your update Nicole! We love Rainforest Cafe too though we've never been to the one at AK - ususally end up at Downtown Disney. The AK parade looks really good!

Thanks Michelle!

We love that parade! The music is so fun!

This was the 1,000th post on your TR! At least Sharky didn't steal your thunder.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I am a sly one;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

WOW...another update...

You the woman:cool1:

Pocahonta show looks like a blast.....

I would love to take ds to Rainforest cafe. I have been there years ago, but remember it being loud....not sure if it would be too loud for ds, as he hates real loud noises:confused3

Cool gramma with the mustang:cool2:

Way to go Abby scoring a pair of crocs, cute color, too:)

That was funny that DH rushed you all out, thinking it was 7:rotfl2:

Yes... Kimmy, inquiring minds want to know what you were up to! :confused3

:lmao: Well I usually don't go into the shops until the park closes and that alone can take us 2 hours. Did you know the Main Street Shops are opened for almost 2 hours after the park (by the time they get us crazies out  ) I can also tell you that we are not alone.
The time that we didn't get a bus back until 2:45 was due to shopping and the buses. We were staying at the All star movies and the busses were all merged together. We came out, expecting to jump on the last bus and be the only ones and yet still had to wait through 5 buses.
On this last trip, MGM (I am going to call it that forever) closed at 8 and we were in the back at the Osborne lights until 9:45, when they shut off the lights on us (and a few hundred others). We made our slow stroll back to the front and the shops were still open. We probably did not get on our bus that night until 10:30. Oh and the parking tram was sitting there waiting for guests. Don't get me started on EPCOT:rotfl2: .... I LOVE MOUSEGEARS!

UNCLE JOHN SAYS:
