I don't get it? I'm on the dining plan...it says it's linked to my resort reservation...yet every time to confirm I need to enter my CC information??

Where are your ADR's??? There's a chance you could have booked at all restaurants that have the new CC guarantee/cancellation policy in place. I had several that I had to provide CC for (Ohana, Le Cellier, akershus, chef mickeys...). So now, if you don't show up they will charge your card according to the new cancellation policy.

so if you do not have a CC , you can't book these places ? Is there a list of these elusive restaurants somewhere ?

CHARACTER MEALS
• 1900 Park Fare
• Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
• Cape May Café
• Chef Mickey’s
• The Crystal Palace
• The Garden Grill
• Hollywood & Vine
• ‘Ohana
• Tusker House Restaurant

SIGNATURE DINING LOCATIONS
• Artist Point
• California Grill
• Cítricos
• Flying Fish Café
• Jiko – The Cooking Place
• Le Cellier Steakhouse
• Narcoossee’s
• The Hollywood Brown Derby
• Victoria & Albert’s – ($25 per person charge for cancellations within the time window)
• Yachtsman Steakhouse

This is most comprehensive list I found...but there may be some more give or take

....and note, they don't charge your card, they just take your number so they can charge it if you don't show up. I'm sure you can use a debit card too! We have 1 CC, it has a zero balance  BUT, we keep it for situations like this and lots of other vendors that require a CC and I don't want them having access to my "real money" :)

how far in advance do you have to give them if you can't make it? The only one I'm concerned about it our arrival date dinner...last year our flight was delayed and we didn't make that ADR.

If it is a concern I might not book at one of those restaurants because it needs to be cancelled the day before.

I believe this started late last fall? Over the winter? as a deterrent to people making multiple reservations; waiting until the last minute to decide where to eat; and then not bothering to cancel the extra ADR(s).

Theres a sticky about it here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2836290

I just booked all my ADRs for August 26-September 3.
I needed a credit card for Chefs de France, Flying Fish, LeCellier and Cape May (dinner/no characters).
I have a credit/debit card that I use ONLY for my ebay and keep very little in that account since as soon as it hits my account from paypal, I take it out and put in an envelope to save for Disney. Anyway, I think there is about $20right now in that account and I was able to hold my ressies for 4 ppl for each restaurant using that card.

I am sure using a credit card will cut down on multiple bookings for one dinner.
I know I was guilty of booking mutliple ressies until I knew exactly what I wanted before my trip and canceled.

1) This is exactly the reason.
2) Using extra ressies prevented others from getting ressies.
3) And, some, really wanted their ressies.
4) It spoiled the advance planning for many people.
5) IT SLOWS/STOPS THIS KIND OF SELFISHNESS.

You should not need a credit card for Chefs de France. Don't know what that's about.

Please read the sticky. From the information we have right now it is NOT a 24 hour cancellation period. It is a full calendar day in advance.

I completely agree and imagine this has happened to many people...I'd be interested to see if Disney really charges them if they have an emergency such as that.

Considering that people have already been charged the penalty for being late (which I think they got reversed later from home), I'd say they are pretty serious about it.

You are correct and if it takes getting the credit card for everyone to get all their ADRs, then it will be a good thing.
I am also a FP Hoarder so between the new ADR system and enforcement of FP, I may have a new trip experience :rotfl2:

Thank you very much. You are correct. I looked at my ADRs and confirmation numbers and do not have listed that I needed a CC fro Chefs.
Yes, you must cancel a full day in advance but there have been reports on here or the other board that people have canceled without being charged...only time will tell.

Happy planning!
