Hi all. Ive searched this topic and think I have an answer but most of the responses to the various topics don't specifically fit my situation so here goes and of course, appologies in advance if it's been asked, as i am sure it has. My family (DW,DS, Dfil) are heading down in November, booked at OKW. Our 180 day starts this monday, 5/7. Now, our friends and their two little ones have a possibility of joining us that week. They are not sure yet if they can come but if they do, it will be at a different resort, definitely on property. Since they will be following our schedule with us each day, they would be dining with us each time. The question is can I book them on our adr's on monday since our reservation number will show only 3 adults and one child? Will the adr system block the extra 2 adults and 2 kids? They most likely will not be booking a room for another couple of months and since we are booking some popular restaurants that we both love, I don't want them to be shut out. I am aware that if i CAN do this and they don't come I must cancel them off the reservation, but can i just cancel them on the reservation and not my entire adr? Trust me, I WOULD absolutely cancel them ahead of time for that so others have a chance to book. Thank you all in advance!!

Since you don't need a room ressie to make an ADR it won't matter if you book an ADR for more people than are in your room. Shouldn't be a problem. And if they don't go with you just change the number on your ADR as soon as you can.

If the OP wants to make ADRs for her entire trip at the 180 day mark, she will need to input her resort reservation number to show she is staying onsite, as only people staying at a Disney resort can book 180+10 (book 180 days from her arrival date plus up to 10 days after that at one time).

OP, I don't know if the system will pick up more people on the ADR than is on the resort reservation and not allow you to do it, but I guess you can try it and see what happens. If it doesn't let you, you can book for your family now and try to change your ADRs if they go. Good luck :wizard:.

You can book more people for an ADR than are in your room - it doesn't matter. So on YOUR 180+10 reservation day, make your ADRs for however many people you are altogether.

You want to be careful though on pre-paid things or credit card hold places, especially, if they decide not to come with you. You would have to call and cancel/rebook for the lesser number of people, to be totally safe and not be charged any penalties.

There really are many mixed reports on whether people have been able to just reduce the # of people on their ADR by calling dining or if they were told it had to be cancelled & rebooked. So many different reports I'm not comfortable saying which would be required.

2 of the answers that may be most applicable in your situation are

"I have a dinner reservation for 10 Guests at a restaurant that uses the credit card guarantee policy. Only 8 Guests are able to make it to dinner. Will I still be charged $10 each for the 2 Guests who were unable to attend?

No. As long as you honor the reservation, then there will be no charge to your credit card.

According to the credit card guarantee policy, I must cancel my reservation at least one day in advance. What does this mean?

At restaurants with the credit card guarantee policy, all cancellations should be made at least 1 day in advance of your reservation. For example: if your reservation is on Thursday, you must cancel your reservation no later than Wednesday end of day. Cancellation fees will be assessed for cancellations made on the day of your reservation."

I've been in your situation many times, most recently in March. I've had no issues adjusting the party size down or up, regardless of whether a credit card guarantee was involved.
