Making ADR's for a party of 10 (or 5??)

Our trip to WDW will be with my parents and my 3 younger siblings, so 10 of us in all. There is 5 in our family and 5 in my parent's family. As I contemplate our dining because the 180 mark to make our ressies is coming up in about a week, I am getting a little bit stressed. We will eat together quite a bit, but there will also be times when it will be just us. Only problem is, at this point I'm not sure when and where we'll be eating just our family of five. When I make our dining ADR's, can I book them all for 10, and then later on as I know for sure that a particular reservation will be for just our family of 5, will I be able to edit my reservation with the number of people? Can I do that online, or would I have to call in? Would I have to make a whole new reservation? I'd love some advice. Thanks!

I think a reservaton for 10 requires you to call a different number. Not real sure; but its something you should definately check out.

I would sit with the "in charge" folks and decide now what days you will dine together. But I am a crazy planner!!!

I've browsed the online dining reservation site, and although it says something about calling, it looks like it allows me to make a reservation online for a party of 10. We've only got 4 adults, so that may make a difference? If this isn't the case could someone please confirm this. I definitely want to make my reservations online if possible because I know you get an hour jump on those calling in.

I would like to know if you can edit your reservations after you make them to change the number of people to less? Anyone know?

ADRs need to be booked based on head count. (Doesn't matter what ages.)
It is always easier to decrease your ADR party size than increasing. Esp for that many.
I would definitely call the Disney dine line for group bookings. (Grand Gatherings) That is their area of expertise.
