DH and I have put off making a will for the 7 years we have been married, but after doing taxes, we realize we need to do one ASAP. What kind of lawyer do you go to for a will? An estate lawyer? BTW - we have very little knowledge about legal stuff. If both DH and I die, can we will our property to nieces and nephews who may be born in the future (both my sisters are planning children, and one is pregnant now)? Maybe in a trust? Thanks for any help. I know I need to get this rolling, but I have no idea where to start.

You can do just about anything that you want to do, that is legal, in a will and a trust. An estate planning attorney is your best bet, one who is familiar with that aspect of the law, etc. A good method to find one is to ask your friends, family if they have had any good experiences working with an estate familiar attorneys, a referral is generally best. And when you see the attorney, your first visit should really, to a degree, be you interviewing the attorney, expertise, type of practice, experience, etc.

(Not to be considered legal advice)

We called the law office that did our house closing. They had a lawyer on staff who did that kind of stuff. We were very pleased.
