Makin' Memories... A PTR for a 2022 Thanksgiving Trip. (hopefully)

So right now we’re planning for November 2022, probably Jersey Week. Sooooo faarrrr aaawaaayy.
That does seem so far away but just having a date in mind helps! At least it does for me..... I kind of forgot about Jersey week. Our school is no longer a voting location, so it's not as good of a day off thing. But we did go once that week, and it wasn't bad.

I think the plan to stay at YC the entire time is fabulous! BC is our favorite and like you I’m debating on doing a split or doing it the entire trip. My heart says do it. My bank account says chill out girl.:rolleyes1 I don’t mind split stays but I’m not the biggest fan of the unpacking, packing, unpacking and packing again. I prefer one resort but sometimes it makes financial sense to do the split.
It's a real struggle! I kind of feel like it is going to be so long between trips we deserve it! Right? We'll see.

Our district uses some of the schools for voting so they close all of the schools. The rest of the week is half days plus the two days off. We did this week before and had an amazing time! The crowds were manageable and we squeezed in MVMCP.

That's what I keep telling myself....splurge because it’s been so long. Treat Yo Self! Lol.

Your plans look amazing!! I do think that things will be closer to normal by Feb 2022, because everyone who wants a vaccine will be able to get one by then. Personally I think I will be wearing a mask in crowds forever lol but it will be nice when we don't have to worry so much!!!

I hope you get to go on both trips!!!

I'm sorry things aren't looking good for the November trip, but I do think things will be so much better in February 2022. I would prefer a stay that isn't split. Packing up and moving can be such a pain.

I do like you're running list. You should also still get to see the 50th celebration since it's lasting 18 months.

I like the idea of a backup plan and suspect with the kids not feeling it, it's just safer to keep them from becoming resentful of Disney. I'd love to stay at the Yacht Club so much. Maybe someday!! I"m doing a split stay next month and they don't seem too bad, but I pack lightly and try to stay organized. I also am trying to do multiple resorts so I can finally do my bucket list of staying at every Disney WDW resort.

Well, It's official!

I cancelled the Thanksgiving Trip. :( It just makes the most sense... Andy wants to actually have Thanksgiving with family. And it's hard to argue with that after the last year. Maybe Thanksgiving 2022? Who knows?

It's ok, I booked us for the first week in Feburary. It will feel SO good to go at our usual time! February this year was rough not going! So, in that sense I think it makes the most sense. So, I changed the name of this pre-trip report...

I know it's not exactly the same but the anticipated crowds for Spring Break was starting to give me the shivers. I know it will be different at the end of the year. But it just feels better to be not even worrying about holiday crowds.

I went in and booked park reservations, out of crazy planner mode. It's way to early, and I am sure some will change. Hopefully I can post my initial plans soon!

I think February will be a good time for your family. You know you love that time of year and hopefully everyone in your family will feel more comfortable traveling at that time. Thanksgiving with the family will be extra special this year after the past year as well.

I received my J&J vaccine yesterday. Feeling a little off today, but glad it is done.

Hope you have a good week and look forward to seeing your February plans!!

It definitely sounds like you made the right choice for your family. You want everyone to feel comfortable and happy!

We are going in June and we have been a little anxious about wearing masks in Orlando in June. :scared: We did go to Dollywood theme park last year, but it was beautiful weather and masks were not a nuisance. Very different from the sweltering humidity of Florida summer. And of course, that's just one aspect of your worries!

I know your Feb 2022 trip will be great!

I think you made a good choice for your family. It’ll be so fun to get back to when you usually go and have some familiarity and normalcy after all this time. It’ll be like a breath of fresh air.

What resort did you end up booking?

I think February is the right call. The longer you wait, the more the parks are going to be back to normal-ish. Plus, you know you love that time of year.

Nobody like to cancel a trip but February sounds like a better fit. I think everyone is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with family this year. We're looking at Thanksgiving 2022 possibly too. It would be the 20 year reunion of our big family trip from 2002. Most of the kids have kids now.

Congrats!!! Andy and I got our 1st shot on Monday! Nothing from that one but I hear the 2nd dose is more side effects. We will see.

Masks in the heat will be intersting. But at least you will know where the good spots are to cool off.

I booked Yacht Club for the whole stay at the moment.

Sorry you canceled Thanksgiving but glad you hav February booked so still something to look forward to.
I am excitied about it!

Let's hope! I am ready to get to whatever the new normal is going to be!!!

I am sticking with that motto at the moment!

I am sure I will pack masks when we go regardless. And I have to think, I will carry one in my bags for awhile. How long will it take before we aren't creeped out by large groups of people?

50th Celebration is a good one as well. although there isn't that much announced just yet. But there is time still for more things.

We have done split stays before and they really are a great way to get in some bucket list resorts! It's really not bad other than the fact that you have to pack up. But some strategic packing helps!

The General Plans!

So, the VERY loose plans at this point in time!

I went with an early week in February. I debated doing a week around Presidents Day Weekend. As the girls school has started to give them the Friday before and Monday off. But that was the week of our very last trip before all of this. And there was a day that was SOOOOOO crowded. And I just wanted to avoid that. So, I looked up when the super bowl is, and went around that. This was almost a tradition to be in Disney for the Super Bowl. Andy has watched many a games in the hotel room, with Morgan and Gwen asleep. It sounds like a strange thing to miss but Andy kind of missed it!

So, with those reasons all in mind, we are booked for the week of February 7th.

I assume we will fly out on Friday, Feb. 4th after work and school. We usually try to get a 6-ish or 7-ish flight out. This usually gets us in late but we have the whole weekend ahead! This will obviously depend on flights and cost. But that is def for a later time to figure out.

For now, I have us booked to stay at Yacht Club for the entire stay. I am still torn by this but I am leaning towards just staying in one place this trip. It will be a full 2 years since we will have been back. And I personally will appricate not having tp pack up in the middle. But we will see if budget wins out at some point!
On the Boat Dock

I booked park reservations for each day already. Again, Also pretty early and probably not necissary, but hey they let me! So, I am gonna do it!!!

Saturday:
  • Magic Kingdom
  • California Grill Dinner
We HAVE to go to Magic Kingdom on our first day back. it is mostly tradition. But I did consider doing EPCOT so we don't have to rush out in the morning after a late night getting in. But I do think we will want to hit Magic Kingdom on the first day.

Sunday:
  • Hollywood Studios
  • Homecomin'
This has become a tradition to do Hollywood Studios and then head to Disney Springs for an early dinner. It works out well for us. So, I figure we will do the same. Plus, I think this is Super Bowl Sunday, so we can do a 4-ish dinner and get back to the hotel to have dessert in the room and Andy can watch the game. Or depending on who is playing, maybe we could hit a park afterwards, as I hear it is less crowded as alot of folks tend to find somewhere to watch the game?! Maybe...

Monday:
EPCOT
Space 2020?
It should be Festival of the Arts, so we will want to check out some of the stuff offered. And I def want to try Space 2020, if it ever opens!

Tuesday:
  • Magic Kingdom
  • Polite Pig
At this point, I am just skipping all MK meals. And filling in with Disney Springs meals that we want.Andy will def want to go to Polite Pig and it is nice to have a "quick" meal.

Wednesday:
Rest Day - Possibly still rent a Cabana @ Storm-along Bay
  • EPCOT (for dinner)
  • La Creperie
I def think we will try and have a rest day. And I think even if we decide to do a split stay, we would head to Yacht Club today. So, it should work either way. And we can head to EPCOT for maybe a ride or two and dinner! Maybe literally just stay in France.... who knows.

Thursday:
  • Hollywood Studios
  • Morimoto Asia
I put the 2-1/2 visits to HS, after the questionare that we did awhile back, as it seemed to be Andy and Morgan's favorite park at this point. Again, trying to fit in all of the must eats in Disney Springs, and well, let's face it sit down restaurants are meh at HS. And I think we will really enjoy this now that Gwen is a ramen eater.

Friday:
  • Animal Kingdom
  • Sanaa
I didn't mean to put AK so late in the trip, It just kind of happened. Not sure if I will want to swap that or not. We will see.

Saturday:
  • Magic Kingdom
  • Ohana
I have gotten to the point where I like to have our last full day be Magic Kingdom again. So, we can kill ourselves and stay all the way till close. (Or go back and rest for a bit and come back at night) I have a sneaky suspision that the girls will want to try and ride Big Thunder Mountain at night. Assuming Ohana is open, I figure this will be a nice way for us to take a break, recharge and head back into MK)

Sunday:
  • Hollywood Studios
We will have to leave at some point, so this would be a very short morning but at least we won't have to stress too much about getting the bus back to the hotel.

So, that is the general plan! And I have nothing to plan for a long time!!! ;( I just have to wait and see what opens and is announced for awhile, I guess.

Isn't is wild to be making park reservations so far out?! I made a few for our December trip right away when we booked it, which felt SO insane to me. I only did the ones for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve because I knew for sure where we would want to be! But, now that it's "closer" I should probably get back at my planning and make more park reservations, just so we have them in place! I haven't even investigated if it's difficult to switch parks once you've made them.....guess I should get on that, too!
