That is so sad. I know a lot of people who have lost someone near and dear to them so close to Christmas. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as well as the family of your dear friend. May the strength of God bless and keep them during these trying times

this is one of my greatest fears...my DH often works 2nd shift and drives home in the wee hours of the morning, usually about the time the local bars close. prayers for the victim's family and friends.

We, as a nation, have to get much tougher with the drinking and driving laws. It's just not enough.

Thanks everyone. DH and I were doing our "shopping" this afternoon when he got the call on his cell. He only saw our friend yesterday morning. I was worried about DH b/c he was so shocked that he almost fell on the floor.

Very few people actually learn not to drink and drive. Unfortunately, most do not.

I just got back from the hospital. My sister's MIL is dying of cancer and is now on the verge of shutting down.

I was there for my sister and gave her lots of hugs and kisses.

Our friend Bryan was in an auto accident on Tuesday. He was on his way home from work when a drunk driver hit his car. The impact sent his car spinning out of control and caused him to hit one of the light poles along the highway. He was airlifted to our county's trauma hospital. He is in a coma and his future is uncertain right now.

Life is so fragile.

When things like this happen it definately makes you put your life in perspective. I have a whole different look on alcohol now. I still drink from time to time but only when I am at home. We celebrate NYE with friends and have a drink or two but I make them stay the night. I don't care if they only live 10 minutes away I refuse to lose another loved one due to someone else's stupidity.

My heart goes out to the family and if there is anything I can do please let me know.

OP, I am so sorry for your loss as well. I will keep them in my prayers.

Drunk drivers are the most selfish people on the planet. There isn't a single reason on earth why they need to get behind the wheel of a car. To me it is like firing a loaded weapon into a crowded mall. Anytime a person gets caught driving under the influence, I think there should be mandatory jail time, no suspended sentences, no backdoor deals. Maybe when we start enforcing laws people will start to follow them.

I just sent my 17 year old out with the car to go to the Winter Ball, now I will be on edge until she is home safe and sound.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is a terrible tragedy. We never know when we will be called home.

We had two losses within 12 hours of each other. A young man (just turned 21 last Saturday) from our church passed away last night after a nearly 3 year battle with leukemia. The cancer didn't kill him, but complications from a bone marrow transplant did. In the same circle of friends, a woman I teach with found out that her father fell down a flight of steps last night and suffered a brain bleed and was in a coma. He will not make it.

So much sadness and grief and so close to Christmas.
