Hi,
I am a volunteer for Make a Wish and I am currently working on a Florida disney wish. It is a little different than the usual ones I work on because it is all about roller coasters. I am looking for ideas to make the trip a little more special, what can I do for him to give it the "wow" factor? He will be doing Universal too and riding those coasters, I was thinking it would be cool for him to ride at the front with Spiderman but trying to come up with more ideas.
Any of you done a trip like this?
Thanks,
:)

Same idea but at WDW...you could also contact Disney about characters riding with the child. Also ask them for other suggestions.

Maybe a Imagineer meeting him to talk about how they designed the rollercoasters? Perhaps having lunch?

There is the YES program about motion/physics so maybe those folks could help tailor something to this child.

I know Busch Gardens has roller coaster tours where you get to walk the track and see all sorts of behind the scenes stuff. I'm sure you can do something similar for WDW...

Hey there, a couple of things to note.

First, you as a wish granter are not going to be able to arrange a "special" request for him through Disney or Universal. All that is going to be arranged by the chapter employees as part of the specific wish because they have all the contacts to know what is possible and available at this time. So while dreaming big might be fun, in terms of something accomplished by WDW or Universal, it's probably long past that point where it can be arranged. Also, I personally would not dream up that special experience for the child. Rather, I would take my cue from him or her at the visit because if it's something so important as to be a part of the wish itself, they would have told me.

However, you can absolutely do something fun for your enhancement before he/she leaves or after he/she gets back. For instance, you could make a "guidebook" of the roller coasters at Universal/WDW/Sea World with stats and pictures and fun facts, then get it bound at Kinko's. Or get in touch with these guys: http://www.aceonline.org/default.aspx and see if they'd be willing to send you calendars, a t-shirt or a free/trial membership. Or make a send-off or welcome home party all about coasters.

Don't try to add on to what his/her wish is, no matter how tempting it might be. Rather, let it be your guide. You can find all sorts of special things to do within it that will be just as special.
