Oh...and since I haven't been able to get my pictures together yet if anyone wants to go to gktw.org and scroll down, you will see a picture of Melia turning on the Christmas lights with Mickey (it's a small pic, but you get the idea).

I saw that one and it just made me anxious to see the rest. ;) Can't wait!

I have a question i was looking on the big give site and my kids was standing by me my girls loved the dresses i was wondering if i could buy a few off those people for my girls i cant afford much but a litle?

The Big Give is a group of people that volunteer to give gifts to some of the Wish kids for their trips. I have noticed that some of them do have websites like ebay and etsy where they might be selling similar stuff but I think it is just each individual, no main site. You would need to just check their signatures to see if they give a link.

I have been checking around for Disney stuff also, in anticipation of our trip, and have found some verrrrry good deals. The Disney outlet usually has at least a few items that are very cheap (especially if they are past season) but you just need to keep checking it for when they have a big sale or free shipping or something like that. I have bought a few t-shirts and tank tops for around $3 each. If I happen to catch any more good deals I'll be sure to post it here.

Evening everyone, and LOL @ the green light talk. My green light stays on pretty much 24/7 cause I'm on dial-up with a deal where I get so many outgoing calls a month. So I do my best to not sign off at all. People prob think I'm totally obsessed.

Cleo..I would think it would depend on napping too..will Sunny benefit from a nap some of the days you're planning on being in the parks later? Then you may not mind driving back? Just a thought :)

It is actually against DIS rules to sell anything on the DIS. And they can get in real trouble (and are watched carefully)...PM me if you want to get something and I can give you my email address and get you in touch with someone. :thumbsup2

Ok soo...I need sum advice DisFriends...
I am my family's trip planner for my sister's Wish Trip in December. We just got our Itinerary for the trip yesterday and it gave us a meal budget for inside the parks. I told my parents that we might need to stay in the parks to eat lunch and maybe dinner on sum nights. Am I right? It seems more logical to stay in the park to eat rather then travel 1 hour to and from GKTW? I mean go all the way back there just to eat lunch. That means we have to load everyone (there are 8 in my family) in the car, drive for 30 min, unload everyone, go eat, load everyone, and drive another 30 min back to the park...

I would tend to think you are right...it would be worth it to me, in general, to eat counter service in the parks. You guys could easily share meals and probably make out ok.

Having said that...depending on how late you are out....you may really need the break. When you take a break in the middle of the day it helps to break up the trip a bit...so that you sort of get an "extra" day...especially if you are switching parks and have to drive over anyway.

But generally I think you are right.

Hi everyone just stopping by to say hello. Im still waiting to hear from our wish granters about our dates and stuff. I went and done some christmas shopping cant get much because when our behind on our house payments when keith was in the hospital this last. So trying to get some little stuff.

I have a question i was looking on the big give site and my kids was standing by me my girls loved the dresses i was wondering if i could buy a few off those people for my girls i cant afford much but a litle?

Sorry! The answer I wrote above is for you. :)

I am going to PM you. :)

Well I still haven't gotten around to writing our trip report, or even starting it for that matter . We came home and settled in. I am known for letting pictures sit on SD cards, so I had to prove my husband wrong (and winning the bet helped as well), so I spent quite a bit of time editing photos and making our scrapbooks. Those are all done but we had a HUGE shock come our way. My husband is in the inactive reserves, and received notice that he will be going to Iraq for 14 months. This was not at all expected and has thrown me for a loop. We don't have family around, and I am so stressed about what we are going to do. Hopefully one of these days I can pull it together and start our trip report

And, now none of you have green lights!!! :rotfl:

Hi, I'm one of the administrators at the Big Give board. Yinyanggirls answered very well! But I wanted to second that. Many of the Big Givers also sell things. Quite a few sell things to help pay for the materials for the Gives we do. Buying custom outfits probably wouldn't be your cheapest way to go. Customs generally cost quite a bit more than a store bought outfit.

Im so sorry to hear your DH has to go to Iraq. I can only imagine the stress your going through, especially with no family close by. I will be praying for him to make it home safe ans soon.

I just realized that I didn't get a pin when we got the MAW tshirts and stuff.. was i supposed to? I get a GKTW one at orientation, right? will this possibly get me to the front of ride lines?

Oh no! Gosh...I am so sorry!

Thank you so very much for the service you are ALL doing for our country when he goes overseas. I can't put a price on Freedom - and we really appreciate what you are all doing to keep us all safe!

:grouphug:

Please keep us posted! Even if it is a little while before you can get to a TR. We want to stay updated :)

Thank you for clarifying this, Teresa!! :) I was wondering how that worked - how much those clothes cost... More than I can afford! :thumbsup2

You are good...You get it at GKTW! :) Your GAC card and your button are given to you at GKTW.

Are there computers at GKTW for families to use? If so, where is it located?

Eeek....not sure on that one. I think they have some available in the office area? I know they have wireless...but you may need your own laptop?

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear about the unexpected deployment. It is especially hard when you don't have family around. Do you live near a base? Are there other military families that can help you out? We live near an AFB and also my husband works in law enforcement and many of his coworkers are in the reserves. We have quite a few neighbors and friends who have been or are now deployed. We tend to become our own extended family when husbands are gone for months or years at a time. :grouphug: I wish you lived near me so you could be part of it! I hope your friends and neighbors will step up to the plate! And please do give updates when you can. We'd love to see your TR but want to hear what's happening in your lives now as well.

Hey we gotta sleep sometime!:surfweb:

Teresa, every time you post I think this, so now I will remember to say it - how did you name Arminda? I have a family name that is quite similar but has been spelled several different ways - Ariaminda, Araminda, Ariminda. I think it's so pretty but have never seen anyone outside my family with anything close.

I'm so glad you asked! I love telling people!

Most people assume it's a "made up" name. Which, bothers me more than it should!

I am going to give you the long version, I hope you don't mind!!!

When my Mom was growing up, she always thought her Grandma's name (her Dad's Mom) was Minnie. That's what everyone called her and when she died that's what they put on her headstone.

When my sister (Heathersue here on the Dis) was in 5th grade or so, they had a little fund raiser and one of the things they were selling was a "tell me about yourself" type book for Grandparents. So, my Mom ordered them and had my Grandma and Grandpa fill them out. Well, my Grandma didn't write much in it, but the one very important thing we did learn was that my Grandpa's Mom's name wasn't really Minnie, but Arminda. My Mom and I both fell in love with the name and I always hoped to use it one day.

Well, many many years later when I was pregnant for our first baby, I suggested to Brian (my husband) that we name the baby Arminda. He vetoed that. The next two times I was pregnant we stuck with the girl name we picked out for Corey. (which was Kayleigh). But, when I got pregnant with Arminda, I told Brian I really wanted to name the baby Arminda if it was a girl. I think after all we'd been through, he couldn't say no at that point. So, he agreed. Her middle name is Sue, after my sister. :-) We never did get a boy's name picked out, so it was a good thing she was a girl!!!

Ok, to make this even LOOOONGER.... When people would ask me what her name was when I was pregnant and I told them, I can't even TELL you how many people asked, "Are you going to call her Army?" hahahaha.... yah, funny.... After she was born, Brian's Aunt asked what we were going to call her. When I told her, "Arminda" She said, "Well, I guess it's up to you." People are fun....

Sorry for the novel, but since you asked and all...:rotfl: So, ARminda is named after her Great-Great Grandma, who was from Germany. Where is your family from?

And, I think it's really cool that you have names so close in your family AND your daughter's name is Tessa! Heather named her little girl Tessa because it is a nickname for Teresa, and my husband calls me Tessie.
