Make-A-Wish and "M to the I, I, C to the K E Y, M O U S E" for Hannah!

I feel very humbled right now ---

My older kids are at their grandparents house here in town this weekend because my hubby had to go out of town for work, and it is easy for me to take care of Hannah alone instead of having all three kids.

However, there are not one, not two, but FIVE big give packages downstairs that they get to open tomorrow night. FIVE!

I was told that because of the time frame and only a month's notice, that Hannah's give would be a "mini give" and that it likely wouldn't be as big as a normal 'big give.'

This is hardly mini! This is HUGE. I have been so touched, so amazed at not only the quantity of gifts that have been sent to my kids, but the absolute quality of the ones we have received so far.

It means so much to me that so many of you want to make this trip even extra-extra special for my family.

My children are so important to me, and I know it is not 'the norm' to put more effort into creating memories for the siblings than for the wish child. I feel a lot of guilt for what Ethan and Abby have gone through for the past 2+ years and even more so for what the likely future will be.

Hannah is going to absolutely love this trip, and I know that she will have so much fun. But this is the trip that Ethan and Abby are going to remember for the rest of their lives, and all of these extra "bright spots" with these big give gifts are just making this so much more meaningful and showing them that this trip is just as much for them as it is for Hannah.

Just wanted to say 'thank you' to all of you involved.

You all deserve it!!!

If my package is amongst those received you are free to open it. It is for you, Carrie and only YOU! You deserve something special too :) I addressed it only to you as well. I must confess though I had a really hard time packaging it up and NOT making something for the kids as well. Anyhoo, if it's not in your batch of goodies it should arrive early in the week.

Ditto! If you get a smaller envelope -- I think it is red -- address just to you it if just for you!

:lmao: I feel the same way....

Andrea too funny. My mom always said if we peeked she would take all the gifts back:eek:

I can't wait to see pictures! I never got to peek at my holiday gifts because I never did figure out where my mom hid them. We didn't get very much and my guess is that mom kept everything in the trunk of her car. However, if I could have peeked, I would have peeked :)

Yay for the Big Give... from what I have heard the 'mini' give is BIG!
I can't wait to see what comes your way!
Don't feel guilty.... it's hard to balance things with everybody... Preserving memories of your precious little girl for you and your family for the future is important.... my dad died when he was 39 and I was 13.... all I have of him is a video with half the audio gone and his wedding ring(my dh wears it)! I cherish that little I do have becaue someone took the time to create that memory.... create them for your family.... I'm so glad you are receiving the BIG GIVE.... and it is for everyone!!!! Take care!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

We are hanging in here -- having some difficulties with getting decent nursing these days plus my hubby being out of town for work this past weekend (plus leaving again for 4 days this week!). I have done NO new planning since my last post!

But I DID finally upload all the pics from the BOATLOAD of Big Give gifts we received over the past two days -- 7 or 8 packages of them! I'm working right now into organizing them so I can post them here. Just so awesome!!

Let the fun begin! It all started yesterday evening after Ethan and Abby came home from spending the weekend at their grandparents. We had FIVE big give boxes and packages waiting for them!

DisneyCP2002 must have been reading my mind! Even though we had done Disneyland a couple of times (being from SoCal), they had never been interested in getting character autographs. However this trip, they are so psyched to get all the characters autographs and even have a list of must-have gets!

So when the kids got their own PERSONALIZED autograph books and pens, they were so excited! Even though Hannah wasn't sure exactly what it was, she couldn't stop staring at the Mickey picture :)

This was a gift that took us by surprise because it wasn't typical "disney," but the kids loved all of it!

There were three pillowcases and three knitted characters. Abby got the dolphin pillowcase with knitted dolphin (she loves Dolphins), Ethan got a cars pillowcase and a knitted Yoda, and Hannah got a Minnie Mouse pillowcase with a knitted Nemo!

Jcwill529, you have to know how much the kids loved these -- Ethan couldn't wait until WDW to sleep on his pillowcase! He switched his current one and is sleeping on it right now with his Yoda on his nightstand! Abby is also sleeping, cuddling with her new dolphin you gave her along with her Shamu she has!

As for Hannah, she could NOT stop staring at the pillowcase! She LOVED it! She even pushed away other things so they she could keep looking at it. She cracked us up with this!

Mr. Drama got to open the next present from miprender. It was addressed to his alter ego "Paduawan Ethan." When Ethan read that, he was very confused but very excited!

MBG5_mickeyjedi3.jpg

He opened it up and saw the shirt and jumped up! He had never even seen anything like a Jedi Mickey before, and his smile was huge :)

I KNOW this shirt is going to get a LOT of wear after we get back from WDW!

Even though this next present was addressed to me, I figured it was likely for the kids so I let Abby open it.

MBG6_bag6.jpg

It came with a wonderful letter, which was great homework for Abby to practice on LOL. Now I know that if I want her to practice her reading -- get her a present to open if she reads it!

MBG6_bag1.jpg

When she pulled it out, I fell in LOVE!

MBG6_bag5boxabby.jpg

It was hand made by Andrea (vbandrea), and the quality of this tote bag is so impressive! These pics don't do it justice at all! It had pockets on the inside, and a very sturdy body. Not only that, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the design!

It also came with a book that is going to come in VERY handy as well as a burp cloth for Hannah (which will get a LOT of use!).

Andrea, this is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! Thank you so so so very much! I love the Minnie pin with it, and I can't wait to use this as my everyday bag when we get back. Honestly, I'm fighting myself against using it now ONLY because I told the kids they have to wait on their outfits they have received so far!!

Oh Ms. Blyssfull, what smiles you put on everyone's faces with this package of pixie dust!

First of all, these crayon roll-ups... AWESOME! I never even knew these existed before, and if these were the first ones you ever made, WOW! They are perfect and we definitely felt the love with the detailed stitching you did.

Then Ethan came across the penny press book. He was in awe - it listed what seems like every single penny press machine in WDW! You see, we have always collected a single penny press at each attraction we go to. But on this trip, Daddy and I decided to let them get as many as they want! So she made these fantastic penny press holders to go with it for each of the kids!

There were so many other fun things in this box! Coloring books, Tink game, card games, balls, and so much more!

I still have a few more left to post :)

You may notice that Hannah isn't in a lot of these pictures. She has not been feeling as well as usual, so we usually only can keep her up during the first gift opening.

I took this self-shot as she was sitting on my lap while the kids were opening the presents. She couldn't keep her eyes open! (plus I turned off the flash)

When it rains it pours! You all got some fabulous BG items! I love the pic of Hannah looking at her pillow case -- it's just precious and it's so wonderful to see her responding like that.

I'm glad you like your bag :) Hopefully it will give you a place to store all those autograph books and pressed penny rolls and the like!

Thanks for sharing all the pictures. It's fun to make BG items but it's even more fun to see the families receiving them. Your kids are so cute too -- Abby cracks me up with her missing teeth and huge smiles -- just adorable!
