:headache:Read thru a little of the DVC dining thread , but couldnt find what Im looking for. For our trip in 13 days, I want the DDP for 7 nights. My dilema s this. One of my DD just turned 10. She will only eat off kids menus. Youngest is 7. I will pay adult price if I have to, but, would they allow her TS credits to be used for us , such as , adding a meal for my DH and I using her TS and we pay OOP for her to order a kids meal? In other words, when we get a bill from our server ther check will say 2 adult TS used, 1 child TS, and we pay $7.98 (or whatever it would be) for the last kids TS. Does that make sense? Im not trying to get out of paying what her age requires, just want to make sure we actually USE those TS credits that costs us hunred$. Thanks.... My window to call and add with MS is getting close and this is a huge headache. Thanks guys!!!

ALSO I shouldve added that we would use her extra credits towards adding a breakfast TS, or and extra TS lunch....

I'm really confused by your post. I've read it like 3 times but I'm still confused on who's credits you are wanting to use for whom? It might be me though - not you! This is an excellent question by the way for the Restaurants/DDP sub-board.

All questions on DDP are quickly answered there.

I understand what you are saying but honestly there is really no way to know. At Disney there is policy and then there is what really happens.

Some servers will follow policy, which basically is no you can not use her credits. Then others will not care.

If you book a buffet you will definitely have to use her credits for that. Counter service will not be a problem in that you can order whatever you want and pay for it how you please.

Full service might be more difficult, again it is up to the server.

SORRY if I was unclear... I just was tryng to see if we can just pay cash for my 10 year old. Then, we wll have 7 extra TS (if we dont go to buffet) . Can we,me and DH, use those or chalk my DD adult TS as a loss. Thanks again..

I honestly think all you can do is try. As stated buffets are by age so that is settled.

Simply ask when you order, stating that your child prefers to order from the child's menu as she just turned 10.

They might not care and then again they might charge the adult credit and allow her to order a kid's meal.

The DDP does not fit everyone, and you will have to decide if it is worth it. For us paying out of pocket is less expensive.

Thanks Sammie... I was just thinking that my DD 7 might order the steaks, fish entrees, etc if worse comes to worse. In my dreams I would be charged the child price for DD 10 and order/pay OOP and use my DD 10 adult TS for other meals, but we'll see. Ill call MS tmro and see what they say. I really was hoping that someone else has experienced this with a picky 10 year old and what happened to those TS credits. Sorry again all if I was, or if Im still confusing you...:lmao:

This is not DVC specific and is suited to our Restaurant Board where I am moving it to. Thank you.

Anyone in the room can use the credits because they are pooled. They are not assigned to a specific person. All of your KTTW cards will say 3A (you, your husband, 10 year old) and 1C (7 year old).

If your 10 year old wants to order from the child's menu you can pay for her meal OOP or use her Adult TS credit. What you can't do is use 2 children's credits at one meal because your KTTW shows only 1 child on the plan.

If the 7 year old wants an adult's entree, while the 10 year old wants something from the kid's menu that would work because it would still be just 3A and 1C.

Using an adult credit for a child's entree isn't financially practical unless the restaurant increases the entree to an adult sized portion or the child wants a child's entree, but a dessert from the adult's menu.

At buffets, all you care to eat meals and dinner shows the 10 year old is considered an adult.

If you are paying OOP for some of your 10 year old's meals, you can use the extra adult credits for dinner shows or signature restaurants that require 2 credits per person or additional TS meals.

On a side note: it sounds like you'll be going to DW in 13 days. Have you made reservations at the TS restaurants? I would make certain you have reservations before adding the dining plan.

Purplefig-Thanks for your quick response.Yes. We have almost all TS non-buffet reservations that we made back in march... Even got in La Cellier(YEAH). Have Akershus and Chef Mickeys buffets. I really cant see my DD10 ever ordering off adult menu, so we most likely will pay OOP for kids meals for her. Im not trying to "cheat" like some of the other threads I just found, implied. I have no problem paying "adult" price for my child. I just would like to use what we paid for, you know? If we have 4 or 5 adult TS left over if she orders kids menu, that con be an extra TS for our family to use for an extra breakfast we didnt preplan.:goodvibes I hope I dont get flamed and ripped open like some of the other threads I just found....:goodvibes

Is she just a picky eater or does she not eat very much portion wise? As another said, many restaurants will give her an adult portion of kids entree if you ask, and then she can still get an adult dessert.

But if you're looking to stretch your credits a bit, you can do what you've stated, and it's NOT cheating the system. Just remember, you can only order UP TO 3 adult meals at any one time, so make sure you have a plan to use those credits.

She IS picky and eats small meals alllllllll day instead of large portions-so a little of both. Thanks !!!:)

You will have no problem doing what you are asking. The credits are all pooled. It is a great way to do it for that 10+ crowd that really aren't adults yet but are charged as such. It gives them ALOT of flexibility and gets you a couple bonus TS's. :love:Enjoy your trip!

Thanks!! I just wanted to make sure.... Im calling today to add(we are DVC, We have til 48 hrs b4 chk in) and pay in full. I added up the numbers with and with out dining plan and we come out waaaaaay ahead doing it this way- :thumbsup2

When last I learned about the dining credits (we use DlxDP), it should be thought of like one big pool of credits. If you purchase DDP for 3 adults (as your 10 year old is a Disney Adult), then you have the corresponding number of credits to use. I don't know if there is a specific policy that would MAKE you use your 10 year olds credits at the same time.

I don't see why you could not use the adult credits towards something like the dinner shows/signature dining while purchasing your 10 year olds meals off the kids menu.

I have the opposite problem...my DD9 is quite the adventurous eater which makes the kids menus dull and boring. She hasn't eaten a chicken nugget since she was 2!!!

:dance3:

As noted, you should be fine, with the following caveats:

1) Buffets/dinner shows/etc., where you're basically paying admission, requires each person to pay regardless of if they plan on eating or not. This basically shouldn't apply to you, however.

2) Beaches and Cream and Via Napoli have weird rules on DDP and sharing -- they generally require all members of the party to order a meal if DDP is being used. How they would react to situation with 2A/1C using credits plus 1 child OOP is an open question.

We did that on our last trip for some meals. DD had the adult plan, but we told her to get whatever she wanted, no matter which menu the item was on. The few times she ordered off the kid's menu, we paid out of pocket then used those adult credits at another meal to stretch the dining plan as far as we could. We had enough reservations that we were prepared to pay for one or two out of pocket had she selected all adult meals.

We were in a similar position last dec. One daughter was 10 but preferred kid menu items and the other daughter was 7 and liked adult entrees. At a buffet it was a non-issue but at sit down places or even counter service this is what we did. Youngest ordered what her sister wanted from kid's mneu and vice versa. When the food came they just swapped plates. I don't think Disney cares who eats off which plate, just that there is an appropriate food item for each person at the table. I'm not even sure that's totally the case because I have heard of a couple with one child ordering two adult meals and then sharing between all three of them. Your meal credits are based on the umber of nights you are staying but I think how you divide them up isd up to you as long as a child orders a child's meal. There were a few times i ordered an adult meal and my daughter a child's and we swapped right in front of the server. Honestly, they are there to help you and in most cases aren't that hard-lined about it.
