For anyone traveling home north by road avoid South Carolina...major flooding all around the I-95 area. The interstate is impassable from at least mile marker 122 to 133 both ways with all detour routes impassable as well. Use best judgement and be safe!!

If i-95 is impassable and the detours are impassable, where are u supposed to go?

Stay in Florida until the rain comes to an end! I-95 is closed from where it intersects at 1-20 all the way down to I-26, about 75 miles.

Sections of I-20 from Florence to Columbia are also currently closed.

The main street in my town is currently closed as its under several feet of water.

Please remember, when the rain ends does not mean the flooding is over. Be safe, do not drive though any flooded roads, see this way to often. AT this time it is best to avoid SC. Yes I know it is way out of the way but SC, southern NC have roads that are impassible, trying to take "back ways" around uselessly end up being in worse shape. Be safe, watch the weather, and get their safely.

At least the rain has finally come to an end and hopefully everything will be drying out over the next several days.

The southbound lanes of interstate 95 finally reopened today. The northbound lanes should reopen later today or tomorrow.

From The State newspaper: Interstate 95, the main East Coast interstate linking Maine to Miami, is reopening in South Carolina more than a week after a 16-mile stretch of the expressway was closed because of flooding.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation says that the southbound lanes on the stretch through a low-lying area in the middle of the state reopened at 8 a.m. Monday. The northbound lanes are expected to reopen later Monday or early Tuesday.

The busy interstate had been closed as workers repaired 13 small bridges damaged in the floods. The department says that 4,000 man hours were expended on the work.

While the highway was closed, drivers had to take a 170-mile detour through Columbia instead of the normal 75-mile drive on I-95 between Interstate 26 and Interstate 20. The added I-95 traffic often caused traffic jams on I-26 southeast of Columbia.
