Day 6 â MGM
Cast â Snowman (AKA Tia, obsessive trip planner, 2nd trip to WDW)
Stoney (AKA Darla, Cinderella fan, 2nd trip to WDW)
Carl (the nephew, turning 7 at WDW, 1st trip to WDW)
Dates â Nov 11-17, 2000
Resort â Dixie Landings
We spent a quiet hour at the quiet pool. This was a really nice way to relax between park visits. After our swim, we go to our room and change for tonite. Since the bleachers are metal, and itâÂÂs a cool November evening, and we hope to be in front so we may get wet, we all decide to wear long pants. Good choice. We head straight towards the Fantasmic side of the park. We had supper at RosieâÂÂs All-American Café (burgers & fries only). Cheeseburgers all around, 2 fries & 2 sodas to share. Total â about $20.00. Burgers are okay, better than McDâÂÂs, but not much.
Then itâÂÂs the long hike up to the Fantasmic arena. We get there in plenty of time, stop to use the restroom before going in (good thing, itâÂÂs packed coming out). We sit in the first row in the second (maybe third section). Great view. We do more munching on everything that comes our way: pretzels, soda, popcorn, cotton candy. I am glad we got there early (about 1 ý hours early) but I think a half hour later would have been okay. The show of course is wonderful. This is one of my favorites. We taped it this year and the tape came out pretty good, not perfect though.
After the show, the wait to get out is horrendous. But, we do finally make it. The only open bathroom (other than the one in the Fantasmic arena) is way down by the Sunset area shops. ThatâÂÂs quite a hike and it was busy. After the pit stop we continue the walk out. By the time we get to the bus stop the wait for the DxL bus is huge, so we sit on the first bench we find empty (near the Contemporary bus). When a DxL bus finally shows up, we wait for it to fill then get in the end of the line. By the time we get near the front it is SRO and people are waiting because they donâÂÂt want to stand. But, since it may be another 20 mins, we decide to stand and get on the bus. It's worth it because we are back to the resort by 8:30 or so and in our room by 9:00. We stop for Ice Cream at the food court. Tia has the hot fudge sundae (wonderful), Carl getâÂÂs a chocolate Shake (2 thumbs up), and Darla gets a single scoop (a single scoop is actually pretty good size). While we are at the food court we also get 16 Mickey shaped straws for Carl to take back to his classmates. At 35 cents a piece it is an affordable souvenior.
Carl falls asleep by 9:30 and Darla & Tia go to bed after ER. Tomorrow we check out, so we try to get everything packed the nite before. ItâÂÂs a tight fit, but I think it will work.
