I noticed recently that Disney got rid of their main street electrical parade. I was disheartened greatly. I remember going to disneyland when I was like 5 and watching it go by. do any of you know why there are getting rid of it? I always thought it was really popular

It changed to the spectromagic parade which is also wonderful. They are similar type floats--different music.

The Main Street Electrical Light Parade is at California Adventure these days...we saw it twice in 2001. I agree, it's a classic, but we love Spectromagic too.

We saw the parade last night at DCA. It was very entertaining. The floats seem brighter now... new lights I guess. In any case it looks much better than it did when it "retired" some years ago. Everyone cheered when the "Salute to America" went by. They have some great CM's in that parade! Smee is a kick.

do they still play the same techno song during the parade? that is what I will miss the most.

"Disney's Electrical Parade" at DCA is still performed with Electrosynthomagnetic-Musical sound. SpectroMagic at WDW has a more symphonic score.

Isn't it wonderful? At the conclusion of our wedding, DW and I exited the church to that music - much to the surprise of many people present. Some just shook their heads in pity of our Disney Addiction.

'Baroque Hoedown' is the title of the music which blends with the Disney movie songs during Disney's Electrical Parade.

thanks.
Darian, about your wedding song, I think that's great. after our first disney cruise, my dad put a video, picture movie together and the first song was the elecrical parade song. everytime I hear it I get goosebumps.

I love that song! I sent an egreeting to my parents with that song as a background and when I was previewing it, I got teary-eyed! That's one of the many things I remember about growing up going to WDW. :)

When the ELP left Paris I was told it was retiring permanetly. Anyone know how long it is slated for DCA and any plan after that?

My DD and I love it so much, I have the light up statues. We shut all the lights off, start our official Disney CD with Baroque Hoedown and than turn on the parade. Not quiet as good as the real thing but the best we can get at the moment;)

There have been multiple versions of the ELP over the years.
The original debuted at Disneyland. Shortly thereafter, a second version began running at WDW. A third version was created for Tokyo Disneyland. The WDW version went across the Atlantic for a run at Disneyland Paris and was replaced at WDW by SpectroMagic. The Tokyo Disneyland version was replaced by Fantillusion. The Disneyland version was retired and replaced by the short-lived Light Magic parade/street show. In 1999 the original Disneyland version began a limited run at WDW. After that run, the original returned to CA and became "Disney's Electrical Parade." SpectroMagic then returned to WDW with minor alterations. The WDW version ended its run in Paris recently. Tokyo just got a new version of the Main St. Electrical Parade, and their old Fantillusion parade is supposed to be going to Disneyland Paris.

Thanks Steve -

Any chance FL is getting it back. My DD and I were there opening night last time and it was amazing!!!:) :) :) :)

I would drop everything to schedule a trip again if I knew it would be back!

As far as I know, SpectroMagic will remain at WDW indefinitely. If it is ever replaced, it will probably be with something newer.

We were there the last time it showed in WDW. We got it on tape so we can relive it whenever we want...

I got a cool tshirt and have 2 of the 3 retirement pins they sold.

I so miss the Main Street Electrical Parade. I just think that Spectromagic cannot be compared to it.

My first and only parade "love". It was there in August 1998 when we were there, but advertised only as a "special thing". Spectromagic is nice, but not the same.

DH and I were looking forward to taking our DD to see the Electrical Parade. Especially since she was afraid of the loud Illuminations fireworks show at Epcot. We didn't know the EP was replaced by Spectromagic. I'm sure it would have been great too, but unfortunately there was no Spectromagic the day we went. I always loved the EP. We also have it on video from when I was a little girl. I wish my little girl could have seen it, she would have loved it.

I will enjoy going to Disney no matter what, but I just want to state that I don't understand why Disney insists on "fixing things that aren't broke." I know I sound like a fuddy-duddy, and I'm only 28, but I want to see Mr. Toad and the Electrical Parade.

I'm going down in about 3 weeks, and it's been several years,so I hope not to be too disappointed with other things I was used to seeing as a kid. What else is gone?

Is the water pageant still shown on Bay Lake?
