Would you share your experiences with the Main Street Barber Shop? Specifically, what did you/your child have done? Girls too? Thinking of doing a do for my dd and maybe ds next trip, but I know dd won't want to look "crazy", but ds might :goodvibes

What "do's" do they do?

you can have them do a subdued "do" to a wild "do". The kids love it----I took mine had their hair 1/2 up/1/2 down and then decorated with gel /glitter...my oldest son had just the front of his hair spiked green and had a head full of glitter dust......be forwarned...I was taking pictures of them and the one lady pixie-dusted my hair as well when i was trying to get a good angle with the camera :lmao: Maybe someone else on this board could let you know the best times to visit------it can get very crowded, there are only 3 chairs, and if someone is getting an actual cut it takes them awhile....that said last time my fam went in feb., we walked right in

MY Ds loved going there. He would get spikey hair with green gel and tons of glitter. He loved the comments from everyone in the park after it was done.

We always went around 2 so that when we were done we would just step outside and watch the parade.

We love the Main Street Barbershop. Our DS has had a cut there for the last 4 trips. And we had our DD's first haircut there. My sons cuts are always the crazy ones, I think thats part of the fun(I've also had my haircut there a got the colors and confetti!!). But they will do whatever you ask, so if you want just a straight forward cut they will do that. Here are some pics- keep in mind that the face painting was NOT done there- we got that done at MGM.

My DS has his very first hair cut in the Main Street Barber Shop!! He got a certificate, all of his hair wrapped up, and Mickey Ears that said 'first haircut'!! He now gets his hair cut every January there during our annual winter trip. This past January, he had it cut, then spiked up with red paint and pixie dust. He had the red mickey head on the back too. They girls had thier hair streaked with pink paint and sprayed up with pixie dust too! Even my hubby has had his hair cut there... and he gets pixie dust too! We try to get to M K early... and head straight for the Barber Shop. We dont usually have TOO bad of a wait!! Sometimes NONE! Its a really fun experience. SOmetimes the quartet comes in and sings. A great time we look forward to every year!

Oooh I forgot about that part- That was part of the reason we waited to get our DD first haircut at WDW.

Thanks everyone! Wow, now I am really thinking this might be a "must-do" on our next trip! The girls hair looks so pretty! And I can so see my ds trying a cool "do"! Anyone else out there have experiences to share? :goodvibes

My DS also got his first hair cut there. We got a speicial set of ears and a certificate. I also got some GREAT pictures! We loved it.

sounds like they do a nice job, my question is what's the price range, to get a haircut and do they charge extra if you want them all cut ?

This looks amazing, where abouts is the barbers shop in MK? Do the do hair for slightly "older" princess i.e. 28 and 16?? We are going in 6 weeks, 5 days (not that im counting - LOL) and I think this would be fab.

:dance3:

I wanna say it was around $14 for the wild do...but not 100% on that.

As to the age thing...We're all kids at Disney! :earboy2: They will do a fun do for anyone. :)

I was also wondering what hte prices maybe as I'm sure my kids would love to do this especially my dd who is 10 would love to have one of the dos done

I just got ds hair cut at the Barber shop on Thursday. The cut was $14, and I left a $3 tip. The shop is located right between the "barn", and the Emporium. On the left hand side of Main St, right before you walk down it.

The cut itself isn't very good. It is choppy in places, and ds still has random long hairs in places, but this is because ds was really fidgety during the haircut. I spike his hair anyway, so it isn't too noticable, but I will probably take him to our regular place and have it redone in a couple of weeks or so. Alos I think the lady put WAY too much gel on ds. It was all over. It got all over ds arms and clothes. All over me, and the stroller. I stopped to grab some napkins, and blotted off the excess, and there was still plenty of color left in his hair.

Beside not liking the actual hair cut, ds LOVED the color and the pixie dust (or sparkels as he called them). Everytime we stopped in front of a mirror ds would look at his hair, touch it and laugh. He also told everyone that he had blue hair.

All in all it was a fun experience, I would just as them to go light on the gel.

We went to the barber shop last Tuesday.

This was our first stop once in the Magic Kingdom and we had about a 30 minute wait. This was for DD first "official" haircut.

Penney did her hair and did an excellent job of entertaining her while she did her hair. The cut was OK, but it was the experience that was worth it. The cut was $14 and we left her a $10 tip so $24 total. This was alot but Penney did a great job with DD.

I would do it again. We did get the hat and certificate too :)

I just wanted to add my .02... Silly mouse, it's not 'just for kids' :thumbsup2 I've never been able to get my kids to have their hair cut there, but it's become kind of a tradition for me, but I will say... GET THERE EARLY! :teeth: I've seen people wait for hours (they might want to go with the restaurant buzzer so people can shop while they wait) I usually go for the 'standard' cut, but if I feel my DD needs some embarassment :rotfl: I'll 'go for it' (see pic) It's great fun and Michal's the best!

Less than 2 days!!!

My DH and my FIL both got their haircut there on our last trip - they didn't want the fancy glitter or anything, just a cut. There were several men getting their hair cut and a woman, also, getting hers trimmed (though she did ask for pixie dust in the end).

It's first come first serve. We hit it first thing and just waited. It's a pretty small shop and only had 2 barbers working but both were really good and both DH and FIL loved their cut. We probably ended up waiting 30 minutes.

Each adult cut was about $17; not too bad!

Both my DGSs have gotten haircuts @MK barbershop...glitter, Mickey head icon, green/red color, and confetti, the works. They both enjoyed the experience and they got lots of attention walking thru the parks that day. My DH thought it was so much fun watching them he decided to get his hair embellished too! :teeth: We got a special treat when the Dapper Dans decided to visit and serenade us. I highly suggest it but as mentioned before depending on when you get there be prepared to wait. Also DD said it took a couple of washings to get the glitter totally out of their hair but what's a little glitter, huh?
