My 6y.o. daughter and I have been growing our hair for locks of love and are planning on getting it cut on Main Street next month. Does anyone know the cost and if it will include both the initial cut of the pony tails and also the evening up of the remaining hair? Would they then fix dds hair cute and dust it? I want to put the hair in one zip lock in hopes that the hair is used together to make one wig. We have thin hair and I have been told it takes multiple donations to make a wig. If you pull out my grey, our hair is very similar in color and texture :)

What is the best time of day to do this and how long should it take? I do not want to do this in the morning and take valuable touring time.

Thanks :sunny:

My son donated his hair to locks of love. They fixed his hair up nice, after cutting it off. We didn't do it at WDW (he did it right before we left for disney).. but, it was free, even the styling of the hair afterwards.

So, I'm sure, even if it wasn't free, they would include the style in what you paid. You can even put the hair in the bag yourself, if they don't participate in locks of love.

Hubby and I had our haircut last year at MK and If I were you I would get there first thing in the am. We were there at 10am and had a 2 hour wait. They are open from 8-5 and there were just 2 people cutting hair. You can have sprinkles dye etc done to your hair. Some people just wanted hiar dye done and sprinkles. It was about $30 for the 2 of us to cut our hiar. But one neet thing is that you are right where the characters come out so we saw lots of creatures and some even came in!

Did you have to wait the entire time or were you able to come back at a certain time?

Great pictures! We are going to do before and afters too.

Does anyone know how long your hair has to be before they'll take it? I'm making my first solo journey in November, and this is just the kind of thing I'd like to do to make the trip memorable!

10 inches is the minimum.

We had to wait the entire time. I did not want to but if I came back later It might be longer or none at all. So we stayed the entre time. They ame no reservations. I wish they did.

Both my Grandsons got haircuts @MK one year and we waited in quite a long line. I would definitely try to be either the first customer or the last of the day. The Barbershop Quartet stopped in to sing a few tunes for us along with a few other visitors. Many people stopped us throughout the park and commented on the colorful haircuts. It's quite an experience and one I'm glad we got to enjoy.

I donate to locks of love regularly. I haven't tried it at Main street, but if you tell them what you're doing, they will cut the hair a bit differently. They bundle it and cut it together instead of sectioning it. Then they usually give you a ponytail wrapped top and bottom. The standard haircut price covers the lobbing off and any further styling that's done. For me, I just cut it off straight, so it's pretty easy for them.

You can mail it in to Locks of Love. They have a fairly easy to use website that has the information.

The donated hair has to be 10 inches in length, so your hair will need to be longer than that unless you're going crew cut. I typically wait until mine is down between my shoulder blades, and get it cut to halfway between my chin and my shoulders. That's about 12 inches.
