Main seating for dining

Hi all,

I was going through the process of booking a December sailing on the Fantasy, when I noticed, it didn't give me the option to select the main or later seating. For my husband, it's pretty much a deal breaker if we're unable to get the earlier seating for dinner, as we have two young kids and he is diabetic and feels better when he eats at an earlier time.

Have any of you who have wanted the earlier seating, but was told it was unavailable at time booking been able to get it by calling Disney Cruise direct or by getting it once onboard. Has anyone been denied their seating request?

I have been able to change it online. People cancel especially near the paid in full time. Good luck.

From what I've read on these boards it automatically gives the late dining. Call Disney and see if earlier is available. If not ask to be put on the wait list.

Yes, it seems the new DCL website defaults everyone to Second seating. It's necessary to call DCL to change it to Main (if possible), or be put on the wait list for it.

You actually don't have to call to change it. It is very easy to change it online. I was put on a wait list when I called, but was able to change it on my own online before I was taken off the wait list

Can you tell us how you did it online? I've not been able to find that option since DCL changed their website.

If you go to "My reservations" it will list your current reservations. Underneath each reservation it lists your current dining and next to it there is a "change dining" option. I just did this a couple weeks ago.

Mine looks just like that but there is the option to change dining underneath where it says main dining. Don't know why yours is different. Was yours booked through a travel agent maybe?

No, direct with DCL.

Oh, well, It's not important. We're satisfied with what we have. Just wanted to know to help others out when they ask.

Ours looks the same as yours, literally. Same cruise and everything. We selected Main Dining when booking ours, so perhaps that is why we don't have the online option to change it now? Just speculating. Or maybe something with that cruise date/glitch in the system.

I was also able to change my dining to main but now it won't let me change it back (not that I wanted to, I was just seeing if it would let me).

if you cannot get changed to Main Seating online, call DCL and ask them if they can change you. I would stress that DH diabetic and leave the kids out of the discussion. They will work to get you on main seating because of the medical condition.

We cruised with ex cast members several years ago and they were sailing with a cm discount, which automatically puts them in second seating. With her medical condition they were able to be at main seating, which was great for us as they became good friends, otherwise we would never have met them!!

Here are some screenshots of what the option to change dining looks like. We are on second seating for our August cruise. As you can see, Main dining is listed, but greyed out. (We're on the wait list.)

Wonder if being before or after your Paid in Full date has anything to do with it? It shouldn't, but maybe......

With your husband being diabetic, I would think you would get whatever seating you wanted based on medical need. But you may have to submit a medical form.

Yes, notify that there is a medical need and they will put you on "priority waitlist". It may not go through until they work on your cruise dining, a week or two beforehand.
