Has anyone on the waitlist for main dining NOT been changed? My 1st cruise we were on the waitlist for main and saw that we were given main at the port. Maybe we were lucky? or was it because we had small children? My personal feeling is that is very rare for Disney to deny a family with young children Main dining.

I have seen several posts lately where people are considering not taking a Disney Cruise because Main is not available. My advice is don't let that stop you from booking! The waitlist works. Unless you book a year in advance or for a week that is not as desirable.....you will probably not have the option of choosing Main dining when you first book. However, many people cancel reservations at the 60 day mark...thus transfering thier main dining to people on the waitlist.

Does anyone else with experience with the waitlist agree with me? :flower:

I agree. We were waitlisted too and got main when we boarded. DCL will do their best to accomodate you!

I know people have posted in the past about not getting main dining. One person was not happy because everyone had assured him he'd be able to change and it wasn't possible. Another was a relatively large family group.

My advice would be that if late dining will ruin your cruise experience, book early and don't risk the waitlist. If you can "make late dining work" go ahead and take the chance.

I also agree with the above post. Nothing is guaranteed, and if you're on a sold-out sailing, your chances lessen even more. We're waitlisted for early dining for our 7/9/05 West Coast cruise. I have absolutely no hopes of it coming through since we booked so late, last December. Would I like early dining, absolutely. Will it ruin my cruise if it doesn't come through, I don't think so. Worst case scenario is that my kids eat with the clubs or room service every night and we put them in the clubs after they eat, before we go. I would like to eat with them, and might try to get them to a couple of the dinners, but if late dining doesn't work for them, we'll eat without them. We also have the added issue that we're from the East Coast and late dining is 11PM ET for us, though we'll be on the West Coast for a week prior to sailing, so again, it won't be too hard to make it work.

On cruise now, we were 1st in line to get changed from 830 to 6 seating and it's not yet been done. Cruise is totally booked, in fact there were no rooms available for upgrade either.
