A wonderful DIS'er is in Orlando right now, and has offered to mail me a coupon that I need from the Orlando Entertainment Book. We are leaving in about 12 days, so she needs to mail it right away so I will have it before we leave.

The US Postal website says a regular letter, with regular delivery is .72. Can she just use regular stamps, and drop it in any mailbox, or does she have to mail it from a post office? Please help!

She could use regular stamps, but they would have to be actual American stamps, not Canadian, but there would be no guarantee you would receive it in the 12 days. She could put the US 72 cent stamp on the letter and drop it off in a mailbox or leave it with a post office/postal outlet. I'm not sure if the other DIS'er would want to send it express (or whatever way they do it in the US) but that would be faster and guaranteed to arrive by a certain time.

Good luck!

My daughter wanted to mail a post card to her teacher. We bought US stamps , and it took around a week to make it to her school here in Toronto.

When I mail something from Seattle, WA. to Vancouver, BC it takes no less than a week.

You have to use US stamps and I just put it out with my other mail.

Hi
A regular letter with a 72 cent Amercian stamp can be mailed in any mailbox. it is processed the same way as if it was dropped at the post office.

However, a few things to keep in mind. It's getting closer to Xmas, which means it may not reach you within the 12 days in the regular mail stream. If it was me, I wouldn't take the chance. I'd mail it by expresspost or by a registered letter. It does cost more, but it will get to you before the 12 days.

Hope everything goes well.:goodvibes

Thanks everyone! If she can get it in the mail today, I will have 9 business days to receive it. I am not going to ask her to spend $10. to mail me a coupon, so I will just cross my fingers and hope for the best. She just wasn't sure if she had to mail it from the post office directly.

If you are heading down to Orlando yourself in 12 days, why doesn't she just leave it at your resort for you to pick up when you check in?

$0.72 is the AIRMAIL rate to Canada. Any combination of stamps totalling $0.72 should be fine. If it is addressed properly and is mailed today from a mailbox or a P.O., I don't see why it would take more than 12 days to be delivered. The Christmas mailing season has not started yet.

Or she can mail it to your resort for $0.42 (standard rate). The resort can hold it for you and you can pick it up when you arrive.

She can't leave it for me/mail it to the resort because we are staying in a condo at Windsor Hills and they don't have mailboxes, and they won't accept anything to hold for guests at the main building.
