Hey there, we're traveling on the Dream during the holidays and I wanted to decorate our stateroom door with Christmas tinsel using magnet hooks. I've read enough to know that with the layers of paint on the doors that the magnets need to be strong. Does anyone have suggestions on the type of magnet I should buy so our decorations stay put? A link to a product would be great too if you have it.
Thanks Laine:thanks:

The only magnets we ever had problems with were the small ones on the Wonder doors (where the paint layers are at least 10 deep, I think). On the Dream, we had no problems with magnets falling off. You wouldn't need especially strong ones for tinsel (it doesn't weigh much).

You don't have to worry to much with the doors on the Dream and Fantasy and they have not be painted over as many times as the Magic and Wonder (hence the strong magnets on those ships).

I just use a roll of sticky backed magnets and cut to size and stick to back of my designs. Never had a problem on the Dream or Fantasy.

Something like in the link but I just buy it a craft store.

Just a question, do you mean regular tinsel or garland? If tinsel I would advise against it. It can get everywhere and if pieces get on the carpet it is a pain to get up. Garland I could see but not tinsel (but that is just my opinion).

Good point. I would think that it (if we're talking about tinsel) would also attach itself to passing people (kids?) and run the risk of winding up flying off the ship when that person goes on an outside deck.

The decoration I'm thinking of is garland but it's made of tinsel, that same shiny metallic stuff. There's no way I want to have to clean that stringy stuff up or make anyone else do it.
