Magicbands

When we were there in Oct. staying at BCV, our cards had the RFID and it was very cool to just touch it to the door to enter the villa. Looking forward to seeing how the bands work when we go in May.

Can you believe we have never used Fastpass? :faint: Probably won't start now!

I am copying and pasting a post I wrote on another site.
There might be a silver lining in all the data mining Next Gen generates.
The suits, and maligned "MBA's" might discover that a certain couple from CA with a DVC membership is "finally" back to WDW after 4 years. They tend to be high rollers when they dine out, but they only did it once. Their handcuffs were activated halfway through their stay at VWL, meaning they either stayed in their villa, or went someplace else in the first 4 days of their vacation. They were here for 7 days, but only bought a churro, and a cup of coffee in MK, a Mickey bar at DHS, a postcard at DAK, and a bag of chocolates at Ghiradelli in DTD. They bought a box of Cascade at the Mercantile at WL,so we know they are running the dishwasher, so why are they cooking in, and not getting the DDP?
They didn't buy any of the One Disney stuff. They also didn't prebook any fastpasses, and never used Fastpass at all, most likely as that all the Fastpasses were gone by the time they logged on with their Smartphones.

They got some charcoal at Fort Wilderness, so they might have used the grills at VWL, but we can't tell, as we don't sell meat in our gift shop/ grocery stores. Did they get steaks some where else?
Thank goodness they spent over $300.00 at Vic & Al's.
I highly doubt this type of guest behavior will ever get noticed.

Really? They got out of V&A for just over $300? Maybe just one of them ate?

Reserving a Fastpass 2 months ahead of time is the problem I have with all this. We don't roll that way, at all. We'd only reserve a Fastpass months in advance if it were a new attraction. If they built new attractions at DHS, you'd have plenty to do while you wait for your Fastpass.
So then just do it while you're relaxing in your DVC room. It's up to 2 months ahead of time. No one is saying everyone should book that much ahead - similar with ADRs.

The reality is we really don't know details of this until they implement fully. Right now, they're still testing.

I don't think anyone will be forced to do it two months in advance...was just pointing out that you could...I think that in many cases, people will be able to pick times they want a day or two ahead of time and still get what they want...and in many cases , the day off.

But, just think if you went to reserve and what you really want and the time doesn't work, but you notice it would the next day...just change up your touring a bit and it could work...

Maybe we are unique, but I always plan ahead of time of where we will tour for the AM...our night adventures can vary...and, having gone so much, we have a good feel for what we can get done in the time we are there...but, now that it might be possible to get on the more popular rides later, we may not need to do the rope drop thing as much...

We know many DVC members that love to plan ahead, and do. They will love this new program. I am just skeptical that FP+ will be like the ADR's are for us, no availability.
We've been using our points here at Disneyland for the last few years, and haven't been to WDW since 2010. We have trouble getting VGC at 7 months out at times, but usually can get Disneyland's hotels if I book quite a while ahead. We are more spontaneous visitors, and booking that far in advance is really something we don't like to do. And, because of that, we lose out...frequently. Until I am proven wrong, which I hope happens, we aren't fans of Fastpass+.
