MagicBands worth it if we stay at Swan & Dolphin?

First post here (and many more to come!):

My wife, two girls, and in-laws are all going to Disney World at the end of May, and I'm still learning about MagicBands. I'm a WDWCP Alum, and my wife and I have been a few times, but our last trip was 2012 and so much has changed.

We are all staying at the Dolphin, so I believe the Magicbands don't work there, and another person mentioned I would not be able to use a Magicband for purchases as well. I love the idea of the bands, but I don't want to pay $15-$30 each for six bands just to use when we enter the park each morning or choose to buy park photos (doubtful). Can anyone give me advice?

You are correct. MB's will not work to open your Dolphin resort room door, nor will you be able to make purchases with them. The MB's might make entering the park and FP+ lines easier and you would just tap the MB's instead of taking out plastic tickets, however, you could also just get lanyards for everyone and put the tickets around your necks to make that process a little easier.

Thanks for the response. I like the lanyard idea. Sounds much better than spending over $100 for the convenience of not having to keep up with six plastic cards a few times a day.
