MagicBands+ at DLR

I've been hearing whisperings that DLR won't be using MB+ anymore, but I can't tell if it's something that's actually happening, or just people being "over" MB+ and thinking it's stupid. I bought one early on, and I like using it, especially because my phone is old and takes forever to load the app, so it's quicker to just bump my MB+ at the turnstile. At any rate, I'm trying to decide about buying a new one, but if it's functionality (as limited as it is) is going away, then I'll save myself the $$$.

On a similar note, when I was in the parks last month, I saw people with a MB+ "puck" on the side of their watch on a slider thing. Where the heck do I find one of those???? I'd love to have just the RFID part of it and put it on my watch. I didn't want to interrupt their conversation to ask, and I couldn't find one on the Disney Store site.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Rumors are that they are winding down sales of them at DLR as the selection has dwindled and hasn't been restocked, however I don't believe that they will stop using them. You will still be able to use your band for quite some time I would imagine. I think it's just because they are not that popular at DLR.

Also, those sliders may be like the old Magic Keepers they used to sell with 2.0 bands. The puck comes out of those and they had like keychain holders, etc. You may be able to find something like that on Etsy. Honestly, I'm not sure the MB+ puck comes out, but maybe.

My understanding is that the technology will still work. If you bring a MagicBand+ from a previous trip or buy one at the Disney Store website, it will still work. The biggest difference is that MagicBand+ will not be sold in the parks or on property anymore.

You can use things like magic bands buddy’s (not sure I can link that here but you can google search them). Also Etsy has some sellers as well. You can use MB+ with them and then have it on a key chain. I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while because I hate wearing them. Dlr is not getting rid of MB. They put too much money into all that technology. They aren’t going to tear out all those scanners in the parks. Not to mention all the ones they just placed for the 70th. They just aren’t going to be selling them in the park.

MagicBand+ hasn’t been as prevalent in Disneyland… in fact Disneyland is already phasing out in park sales of them. Any MagicBands already bought from Disneyland or otherwise will still work.
