Hello everyone!

I'm a 24 yr old Disney Store cast member who frequently visits WDW. I have an auto immune disease that limits how long I can be on my feet, and causes chronic pain and fatigue.

Do any of you have suggestions for visiting WDW and getting your Disney magic without going into MK or the other parks? Do you have tips about things to do at your resort?

Thanks:)

I would absolutely use a scooter and do the parks and take breaks. You can use the first aid center to rest at the parks when necessary. See if your doctor has suggestions when you are more active as to what pain medicine may help.

Enjoy the resorts. You can take walks by the beaches at some resorts and take in the decor and rest when you need to do so. At Christmas this is a lot of fun especially at the Grand Floridian Resort. If you go on MK fireworks night you can go to the boat dock by Narcossee's and watch the fireworks from afar. Love the Animal Kingdom savannah. Polynesian you can enjoy the water parade. People watching can be interesting everywhere.

At your own resort you can sit at the edge of the pool and just have your feet in the water.

Hi Hannah! Welcome to our corner of the DIS!

Like @Bete said, you may find that using a rental ECV lets you go have all the fun you want - without creating additional pain or fatigue.

But, if you don't want to go in the Parks - maybe you want to do a "Resorts only" trip, then here's some of our favorite ideas:

- Stay at a Resort that has either boats or monorails for alternate transportation. Boats and Monorails are a fun break from buses, and boats are sometimes less crowded than buses.

- For Moderates, we love love love POR and/or POFQ. You get the boats to Disney Springs, great pools, great food at the QS's *and* YeeHaw Bob at POR!

- For Deluxes, we love love love Wilderness Lodge. Food is awesome, WCC is tons of fun for a TS credit *and* the new QS by the lake is the most lovely spot on property! There are boats to and from MK, Contemporary and Fort Wilderness!

- "Olivia's" is the TS at Old Key West; the most fun way to get there is the boat from Disney Springs to OKW. It's truly a hidden gem, and the food and service has always been excellent for us!

- "The Wave" at Contemporary is an amazing TS breakfast buffet - it's become another one of our "must do's" on every trip!

- If you go to the Boardwalk, make sure you have time to go to The Bakery and get a piece of their Jersey Crumbcake. My mouth waters just thinking about it!

- You dont need to be in the Parks to do the "Pirates N Pals Fireworks Cruise" - all you need is a great sense of humor and a wish for a great fireworks view from Seven Seas Lagoon! You'll also get up close and personal with the Electrical Water Parade, and the whole cruise is overseen by a funny, charming "Pirate" who is your host for trivia and singalong activities! (extra fee)

- A WDW favorite and "must do" every trip for our family is the Hoop Dee Do Revue at Ft Wilderness. Amazing food, and a great show, and I dare you to leave without a smile on your face! Again, you don't need a Park ticket for this - just a boat ride (or a bus ride) over to the Outpost at Ft Wilderness (extra fee - ADR strongly recommended)

- Disney Springs is an amazing shopping/dining destination on it's own. There's tons to see - free music pretty much all the time somewhere, and great restaurants. You can have your caricature made, get a Henna tattoo, pick a pearl... and get a custom T-shirt made to commemorate your trip!

These are just *some* of our favorite non-Park things to do; we now regularly plan anywhere from 2 to 4 days per trip for "outside" the Parks just to do our favorite things!!!

Have a super trip! :)
