Magical Memories~Reliving the Dream-One Year Later (with pics)

The sun was starting to come out, and so were the people!
101_0074.jpg

We headed straight over to Fantasy land. We knew that if we were going to get any rides in, we better do it now!
First stop: Dumbo! DW had promised DD that she would take her on it, and so she did! DW does not like rides that go in circles, or up and down, but she was a brave soul and rode it with her!
101_0083.jpg

101_0085.jpg

As you can see, she spent most of the time in the "down" position!

I had made t-shirts for most of the days on our trip! Here is a photo of us wearing one's that Julia&NicksMom did for us. In all the excitement of this trip, no one noticed that the word Mommy, had an extra "M" in it!
101_0092.jpg

Next stop the Speedway! DB had promised DD that he would take her for a spin in a car! She loved it! She must have rode this ride 10 times during our trip!
101_0095.jpg

101_0096.jpg

101_0097.jpg

Next up, the Mad Tea Party!
101_0110.jpg

101_0108.jpg

DB and DSIL decided that they wanted to take their niece for a spin, and since neither my wife or I enjoy that type of ride, we sat it out!
101_0119.jpg

While waiting for them to board the ride, we ran into a very nice woman with a very interesting stroller. We had asked her where she got it and struck up a conversation with her.

We noticed a CM taking someone through exit onto the ride at the same time that DD was getting on. We looked and couldn't believe it! It was Kristi Yamaguchi, the Olympic skating star!
101_0115.jpg

101_0117.jpg

When DD was getting off with my brother and SIL, we noticed that the woman that we were talking to earlier was Kristi's mom! She was so nice and polite! My SIL is such a fan, she couldn't believe that she rode the teacups at the same time as Kristi! She was beaming the rest of the day! See?, more pixie dust!
The sun had come out and Wow! the Castle looked even more beautiful!
101_0124.jpg

We rode a few more rides in Fantasy land, and then headed back to the resort for a quick nap!

Next installment DTD at night!

Great start, Tom! I love the shirt! :thumbsup2

I'm loving it so far, Tom. Keep it coming!

Tom - I'm so glad to see this trip report!!! It's so great to see the pictures and read all about it! Can't wait to see more!!!!!

Great start! I always say it is better to be late than never! I love all of the pics!

Awesome seats at HoopDeeDoo! Looks like you all had a great time! Isn't Disney wonderful? Your little girl is precious also! Love the shirt!

Loving your trip report! LOVE the shirt!!!

So darling!!!! I can't wait for the next installment!!!!!

Your pictures are so wonderful! What a cutie!!!

Thank you to everyone reading along! I am enjoying reliving the magic! It is getting us even more excited for our trip in the fall!

OMGness - Kristi Yamaguchi?!?!?! How awesome is that??? What a great story to tell and great memories to keep. I am a huge fan of figure skating - of course, I grew up with Dorothy Hamill as my idol!! I guess that dates me a little bit!! :lmao:

Looks like all of you had a great time - even in the rain. Keep it coming!!

Tom,

Your pix are outstanding and DD is beautiful!! You sure are not boring me with you pix, so bring them on!!

PS - to prevent motion sickness, you can give your DD some Benedryl. There is something in the medicine that calms the GI system (digestion). It does make them sleepy but not as severe as Dramamine. My two DDs have a tendency to get car sick sometimes, so B4 long car rides I give them a dose.

Since we were staying at Port Orleans Riverside, we decided to take the boat ride over. It was so cold that night, but the ride was fun!

We ate dinner at Earl of Sandwich. If you have never tried it, I really recommend it. The food was yummy, and the service was quick.

101_0130.jpg

DD was trying to pull her tongue up to her nose to lick off the sprinkles!

We strolled around and found a few photo ops.

We went over to the Lego area. We were so impressed with what they built with Lego's.

The window displays were amazing!

We played around in the store for a while and picked up some Lego's and headed back to the resort.

Next installment: Day 3 Animal Kingdom!

Thank you! We are also figure skating fans, and seeing her was definitely a highlight for us!

I am glad that I am not boring anyone with my pix yet. Believe me, I have hundreds more to go through. Some of the cutest one's are yet to come!

Thanks for the tip. We will definitely be considering Benedryl for the next trip. I really don't think I want to relive that memory!

Tom--

another day, another great story!! Love the pics...espescially with Leighanna and Woody and Mr. Potato Head!!

Excellent job! I love the pics, your daughter is such a cutie!

We stayed at POR in January, I love that place.

Tom,
Loving the pictures and report. It makes it seem like it just happened when you write about it :goodvibes

Kristi Yamaguchi is my all time favorite. Loved seeing her when we would go see Stars on Ice.

Today was the day for Animal Kingdom. This was going to be a first for everyone in our group. We have been to Disney a couple of times in the past, but had never had the time to venture over to the Animal Kingdom. Yes, I was one of the few that thought that is was just a glorified "zoo". We soon found out how wrong we truly were!
While everyone was getting around in the morning, I decided to head over to the POR food court to fill up our mugs with coffee and soda. This was the first time that I had to realize how beautiful the resort actually was.

This is the view from right outside our door.
101_0196.jpg

We all got dressed, in our matching tshirts, and hopped on the bus. I realized later in the day, that having matching shirts really helped us in staying in a group, and not losing each other! We got lots of attention all day! The CM's liked how we all matched!
101_0212.jpg

This was our first time at Animal Kingdom, and we couldn't believe how beautiful and lush it was! The Tree of Life was beautiful with all its carved animals.
101_0217.jpg

Off in the distance, we could see Mt. Everest!
101_0220.jpg

We were told as we were walking in that they were doing test runs of it today! Apparently everyone heard about it too, the park seemed to be busy today!
101_0221.jpg

We headed straight over to the Safari. We all wanted to ride this first thing, before it got too crowded in the day! We were going to get fast passes, but the stand-by line said 20 minutes, so we got in line.

The ride was great! Lots of animals were out, and we even had to stop the vehicle to let this giraffe to pass.
100_0250.jpg

We even got to see Mama elephant with her baby!
100_0261.jpg

Devine was out today. Seeing her slink around was so cool!
100_0290.jpg

We decided that if we were going to ride Expedition Everest, we better get in line! The Fast Pass kiosks were not open, and stand by was the only way. We got in line. Surprisingly the line moved along pretty quickly. Disney sure put a lot of thought into this ride! The wait areas were very elaborately decorated, and lots of interesting facts were displayed for us to enjoy along the way!
100_0307.jpg

All I can say is that this ride was AWESOME! We will definitely be riding it again in the future!

By this time, we were all getting hungry, so we headed over to Tusker House. Apparently everyone else had the same idea! We got our food and waited for a table to open up. Trying to hold trays of food while maneuvering a stroller through a crowded area was not fun. We finally got a table and enjoyed our meal.

DD was getting anxious to ride some rides, so we headed over to Dino land.
Since DW sat out EE, she was elected to take DD. They had a lot of fun!
100_0325.jpg

SIL took this photo, I thought the colors were so vibrant, that I had to share!
100_0334.jpg

After enjoying our day at Animal Kingdom, we headed back to the resort for naps. It was so cool during our stay, that we didn't get a chance to swim.
100_0347.jpg

We were going to Magic Kingdom tonight to see Wishes for the first time. It was also EMH that night, so we knew that we needed the rest.

The Magic Kingdom at night is so beautiful. The buildings down Main St. all outlined in lights, and the castle gleaming in the distance!
100_0370.jpg

DD wanted to ride Buzz Light year, so DW took her on that, while the rest of the group headed over to Space Mountain.
It was soon time for Wishes to begin, so we found a place on the bridge to Tomorrow land and waited.

We saw Tinker bell fly! DD sang along with the song, and there I was standing in a puddle of my own tears. It was just as I had imagined it to be. Truly magical in every way!
100_0417.jpg

100_0431.jpg

After Wishes, we stayed for a while longer and rode any ride that we wanted to with no wait at all!
DD was getting tired and so were the rest of us for that matter, so we headed back to the resort!
We couldn't believe that almost half of our trip had come to and end. But the other half was still waiting for us to enjoy!
100_0475.jpg

Tomorrow Disney Studios!
100_0483.jpg

Another beautiful day was on the horizon for us to enjoy!
DD had purchased a Roo toy last night, and HAD to bring it with her today!
100_0480.jpg

Since I had made t shirts for us, DW wanted to get in the act and made this outfit, for DD to wear. She got lots of complements on it all day!

We hopped on the bus and headed over to Disney Studios!

DD got lots of attention today! She was a magnet for the PhotoPass Photographers. They even played with her for a bit!
100_0489.jpg

Since DW doesn't do thrill rides, she took DD over to Playhouse Disney while the rest of the group headed over to Tower of Terror!
100_0511.jpg

I had done this ride before, a few years ago, but my brother and DSIL had never ridden it. We get right on, with little wait.
DSIL and I had cameras with shoulder straps on them. My brother did not. While we were in the car, my brother looks at us and wonders why we have shoulder straps to hold us in, while he doesn't?:confused3 We immediately realize what he was seeing, and my SIL and I had a little fun with him. We told him that apparently he was in a defective seat, and that he better hold on tight. He was like this:scared1: . We finally told him that we didn't have shoulder straps to hold us in, and that the straps that he saw were only our camera bags.:rotfl: He was relieved, for the moment.
The ride proceeds as normal until we get to the spot that the car inches forward preparing for the drops. All of a sudden we hear that the ride is having technical difficulties, and to wait for a moment for them to remedy this. After waiting in the car for what seemed like hours (really only like 5 minutes) , a CM and a maintence technician come by to tell us that we need to exit the ride. So out comes a small ladder, we climb out of the ride and take the express elevator down. They asked if we still wanted to ride, we said yes, and they put us right on another car. This time, all went as planned and we had a ball!
I called DW to let her know what had just happened and she laughed. She said , "Now that is why I don't ride those rides!" I told her that since we were already in this area, that we wated to ride Rock n' Roller coaster. She said she would meet us there. She wanted to do a little shopping, so she was happy to do so.
100_0513.jpg

100_0514.jpg

The ride was awesome! This was my first time on this ride, and it was so smooth and fast! We ended up riding it twice, since there were no lines!

We got off the ride and met DW and DD.
100_0517.jpg

DD was getting hungry, so we headed over to Pizza Planet.
100_0526.jpg

The pizza was o.k. Nothing spectacular. DD enjoyed it, so to us that was all that mattered.
100_0534.jpg

DD played a few games, and then we headed over the Muppets 3D.

It was soon time to head over to 50's Prime Time for our dinner reservations.
We had never eaten here before, but from all the reviews, I thought that it would be a fun place to try!
This restaurant was like a stroll down memory lane. I remember growing up and eating in a kitchen just like this! I knew that this was going to be fun, right from the start.
100_0558.jpg

We were seated, and a long lost "cousin" was our server. She was great!
100_0569.jpg

DW decided that she didn't want to eat her green beans. Well, our "cousin" proceeded to pick up a fork and feed them to her.
100_0568.jpg

We were laughing so hard!

SIL had noticed that I hadn't eaten all of my vegetables either, so she told "cousin". Instead of feeding me my vegetables, she made SIL stand in the corner for telling on me!

After our meal we had dessert. Since we were celebrating DD's Birthday all week, she received a cupcake, and even got to make a wish!
100_0575.jpg

100_0576.jpg

After dinner we headed over for seating at Fantasmic!
The show was great!
100_0583.jpg

Another ending to a perfect day!

We headed back to the resort. Tomorrow was Magic Kingdom day, and an early morning breakfast at Cinderella's royal table!

DW did DD's hair in lots of braids. She wanted "Princess hair" to meet her new friends.
