Magical Memories of a Double Dip 9/27-10/4 - updated 10/16 w/pics

Glad you are having a great time!!!

Ok... fess up... name the server!!! :thumbsup2

Okay, I will tell but you have to promise to let me share on my future cruises - I have two recommendations for servers - both are fantastic: Sameer and Angelina.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the updates!!

Can you confirm the age groups for the kid's clubs? I know that they were experimenting over the summer with the 10yos and tween group and whether to include them in the lab, the Oceaneer Quest, or the Stack.

Okay here is what the Navigator says:
8-10 Oceaneer lab
11-13 Ocean Quest
Does that help?

DCL does rotational dining, each night you eat in one of three restaurants, your serving staff rotates with you. What the poster was talking about was the order that the resaurants are visited, 1st night is restaurant A, 2nd night restaurant B, etc. DCL switches the rotations every once awhile which drives overplanners insane. Some people like to be in certain restaurants on themed nights, and plan their Palo night for their least favorite resteraunt.

The poster on this thread is reporting that on her cruise which is a double dip (goes to Castaway Cay twice) her 8:30 seating rotation is PLLAALP, which is Parrot Cay, Luminere's, Luminere's, Animator's, Animator's, Luminere's, Parrot Cay. Or in terms of As, Bs, and Cs: ABBCCAB.

Hope that explanation didn't make it more confusing.

Thanks so much, that explains it..

That's what we were wanting to know. So the stack is for 14 and up? Are there scheduled activites for the 11-13 set or just hanging out at the Quest?

Thanks for asking that question, as I was wondering about the age breakdown too. And thanks Alleluia5 for the info. Great TR!

TwoByFour, you can look at the Navigators from this summer that have 11-13 in Ocean Quest. They had some hanging out time and then a lot of different scheduled activities:

Thanks, I'll check them out. I think my DD13 will still be disappointed, it seems like she's waited forever to be old enough to go to the stack and now she'll have to wait a little longer. I guess now I have a reason to rebook. :)

On other cruiselines, I have purchased flowers for for my cabin? Is this service available on the Magic?

Thanks

Oh no - I hope this isn't permanent! I emailed DCL this summer and asked if Ocean Quest was going to remain 11-13 or return to 11-14 once the Magic started sailing the Caribbean itinerary. I was told the 11-13 was just for the summer and Ocean Quest would return to 11-14 in the fall! My DS14 is so looking forward to OQ and did not like the Stack last year. I hope he will still be able to call OQ "home"! I guess I will email DCL again!

My DD was in OQ for the EB and she said they allowed 14 yr olds in. She said there were a couple 14 yo who didn't want to go to the Stack and it was okay with the counselors.

I loved the age change. My DD was thrilled that at 12 she wasn't stuck in the lab doing the same things she's done for the last couple year. She was really bored in the Lab last year. This year in OQ she never wanted to leave.

I hope that's the case! The tween/teen years are so hard. Some of them are ready to move beyond the lab and others (like my DS) are not ready for the Stack. My son LOVED Ocean Quest, too!

I wouldn't be surprised if a 14 yo could get into the OQ. From all reports from parents who observed the area the CMs did not monitor this group at all.

There are actually scheduled activities for both sets, from everything I have seen, there is plenty for the kids to choose from both in the stack/ocean quest and around the ship. For example, on our way back down to the room just now, they were recruiting kids and family for a High School Musical dance party (appx 7:30pm)

Thanks for any help.:)

As for the DVD hookup, DH looked and there is a HDMI and component video hookups - hope that helps.

Sorry I haven't caught up on the cruise report yet - I will, I promise! I have been enjoying the every popular cruise nap in the afternoon so that has cut into my typing time :lmao: Just finished watching Disney Dreams and I have to say this cast is phenomenal! Tonight is the yummy lobster night aka SemiFormal night, then after that we are getting a movie premiere!!!
