Magical Honeymoon trip report w/ LOTS of PICS! (PhotoPass Pics Added) 4/26/09-5/3/09

Day #4 Wednesday 4/29/09 Weather sunny and warm

On this day we had plans to tour Animal Kingdom. We woke up around 6:15pm got dressed and headed to the Great Ceremonial House to eat breakfast. We ate breakfast at Captain Cook's again.

After breakfast we went to the bus stop to catch the bus to Animal Kingdom. By this day we are already spoiled for the monorail. I know it's never going to happen but it would be awesome if the monorail line would be extended to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

We got to AK in time for rope drop. We quickly walked to Expedition Everest for me to get a fast pass and ride it. Brandi isn't brave enough to ride it yet. One day perhaps.

After Expedition Everest, we got in line to watch Nemo the Musical. I have seen this a couple times but this was Brandi's first time. Due to other show conflicts we didn't get to see it last year. We both really enjoyed the show. But I'm still a little partial to Festival of the Lion King. (Which we didn't get to see this trip)

AK-Nemo-06.jpg

After that we checked rode Kilamanjaro Safari. The wait was 20 minutes i think. Immediately after the safari we walked through Pangoni Forest Trails.

We ended up eating at Flame Tree BBQ for lunch at noon. Brandi got the pulled pork sandwich, I got the ribs. I don't think I'll get the ribs again. They were ok, a little too fatty for me and not worth the price. I think I'll get the pulled pork sandwich next time like I usually get.

We also managed to see a perfomance from the Beatnicks!

AK-Beatnicks-03.jpg

Once we finished our lunch and catching the Beatnicks show, we went see the Flights of Wonder bird show. I've seen it before but this was Brandi's first time. We wanted to go see it last year but never had the chance. It was a great show and is overlooked by park guest. I would recommend seeing it.

AK-FOW-01.jpg

Next it was off to Maharajah Jungle Trek. Again this was Brandi's first time seeing this. We were lucky, the tigers were out and active.

AK-Majarajah-03.jpg

My fast pass was up for Expedition Everest by this time so back to EE for my ride. We then tried to ride Dinosaur but the wait was 40 minutes. I should have got a fastpass for this. We didn't feel like waiting around to ride it. I wanted to see Tough to Be a Bug but 3D movies mess with Brandi's equilibrium. So we had to pass on watching it this trip.

Well it's about 3:30pm now and Brandi's ready to go back to the hotel for a rest. Again I"m not tired so instead of laying down in the hotel I went to Magic Kingdom to ride a few rides and take some pictures. We had ADRs for Ohana at 8:15pm so I just needed to be back for around 7pm.

MK-TownSquare-01.jpg

Most of the attractions I toured were walk on. Pirates of the Caribbean, Enchanted Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, and I also caught part of the Move It, shake it , celebrate it!

So after a couple hours at MK, I headed back to the Poly to meet Brandi for dinner at Ohana. Our ADR was for 8:15pm. We had to wait a little so we ordered drinks for the Tamu Lounge. They were really good.

So we were seated at a great table. I asked if we could be seated in the main room where the fire pit is. We could see the castle perfectly. We made the ADR at this time so we could watch Wishes while eating. It was very cool, the lights dimmed slightly and the music was pumped up. Very cool.

We were very happy and surprised to see Kaleo the singer! We talked to him a bit and he told us he was substituting for someone that was sick. Lucky for us! I really miss him at Ohana and after dinner I went downstairs to the check in dest and spoke with a supervisor an gave Kaleo big praise and told them I hope he returns soon on a permanent basis. Kaleo even serenaded us and played the Hawaiian Wedding song for us! Awesome!

The food at Ohana was great as always. I've been there a few times, this was Brandi's first time dining here.=
Then only thing that wasn't good was the noodles. They were plain and didn't taste very good. Bring back the potatoes!

Again I forgot to take a picture of the main course the meat! LOL!

After dinner we headed back to the room for sleep. The next day we had scheduled another Magic Kingdom day to finsh the stuff we didn't get go a couple days before. Stay tuned for the next day (Day #5) in the trip report.

Great update! I don't think I could sleep that much in disney...on the cruise is okay because there aren't ten zillion things to do, but at disney I feel like i'm missing something...not to mention I can fall asleep anywhere so I can sleep on the bus or if we sit down for a little while. :thumbsup2 Ohana looks good, but we've never ate there...might have to try it next time! :goodvibes

Yay!!! Great pictures!!

Say you wouldnt happen to know what the name of the drink Brandi had outside Ohana's... the Green one? It looks delish!

It was something with green apple flavoring. It was non-alcoholic. Brandi doesn't drink.

Thanks for the pictures of 'Ohana .... everyone just takes pictures of the food, so I could never picture the grills (or whatever they are). My fiancee and I really want to give Ohana a try on our honeymoon too! All you can eat meat is right up his alley:lovestruc

You really should try Ohana for your honeymoon. Also try the California Grill. It's very nice and romantic. If you can get your ADR around 7:30pm or so you will be there in plenty of time to catch Wishes at 9pm from the balcony. Check to make sure what time Wishes will be held during your trip.
I have some pictures of the Cali Grill in my next trip report day.

WHOA>>>>>

She doesnt' drink... she doesn't ride Everest... and you Married Her Anyway??

:rotfl:

Yeah, but he tortured the poor girl by making her endure the chili dog in Stitch's Great Mistake....er....Escape.

I'd probably want naps, too. So I am totally down with that. :thumbsup2

Todd, those pics are fantastic. I had forgotten how gorgeous Epcot looks during the Flower and Garden Festival.

Day #5 Thursday 4/30/09, warm and sunny

So this day we had a busy schedule so we had to get up at 6am :) to make it to our ADR for breakfast at Crystal Palace at 8:05am. This is Brandi's favorite place for breakfast. I would have preferred Chef Mickey's but we'll eat there next time we go to WDW. We made the ADR so early so we could be one of the first people inside MK. It was really neat to see the park empty. The only people in front of us were going to Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast.

So we checked in to Crystal Palace and was seated about 5 minutes later. We arrived at our table to see this.

MK-CP-01.jpg

Very nice. We really like the food here for breakfast and we love the character interaction.

Omlette for me :)

MK-CP-02-Omelette.jpg

An assortment of food from the buffet. The puffed french toast was excellent. I think that is what you call it.

MK-CP-05-Food.jpg

Of course we got some pictures of us with the characters.

After our wonderful breakfast we headed to Fantasyland to ride attractions there. We ended up riding Peter Pan, It's a Small World, Snow White's Scary Adventure, and I rode the Tea Cups. We didn't ride Pooh or see Philharmagic. Again Brandi has trouble with 3D movies.

Once we finished Fantasyland we headed over to ride Haunted Mansion, Liberty Belle Riverboat, and Big Thunder Mountain. We both love Big thunder Mountain.

MK-BTMRR-02.jpg

So it was time for lunch and I wanted to make sure I had a hot dog from somewhere at WDW. I wanted Casey's but Brandi is alergic to Hot dogs so we had to find another place where we could each find something. So we ate at Cosmic Rays. It was pretty busy. I had a hot dog with chili and Brandi Had chicken nuggets.

MK-CosmicRays-Food.jpg

By the time we finished lunch Brandi was ready to head back to the room to rest since we had ADR's at California Grill at 7:20pm. I rested with here for a little while but returned to the Magic Kingdom at 2:45pm to meet up with some of the guys with the WDWNT (Walt Disney World News Today) Podcast. We met to watch the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade and watch the castle forcourt show, Dream Along with Mickey. both were great and It was nice to meet up with the guys.

So after watching the two shows I returned to the room to get dressed and ready for dinner at the California Grill! This was both of our first time dining here. We were delighted with the decor. While we waited for our table I got us a couple drinks at the bar. I got a bloody mary and Brandi got a 7 Up with cherry juice. Non alcohol for her.

CaliGrill-01.jpg

CaliGrill-02.jpg

We were then seated at table right at the window. It was a fantastic view.

CaliGrill-03.jpg

CaliGrill-06.jpg

CaliGrill-08.jpg

Brandi was looking over the menu and questioned the waitress about the menu and if certain items had nuts or nut products in them. Brandi is alergic to food with nuts. So this eliminated many items for her, bread, croutons, ets. Lots of things at the Cali Grill may not have nuts in them but the place where the ingredients were proccesed also processed peanuts.

We ordered each a caesar salad for appetizers since the oven that cooked the flat breads was broken. :( bummer I was looking forward to eating one.

CaliGrill-14-Salad.jpg

We also both ordered the oak fired filet. Again I forgot to take a picture of the steaks but they were really good. Cooked perfectly. Brandi had them put the BBQ sauce on the side. She substituted the asparagus for more potatoes. I substituted my asparagus for mushrooms. Yummy.

After we ate our dinner, the waitress offered us some champagne to celebrate our honeymoon but unfortunately I don't like champagne and Brandi doesn't drink. So she was going to offer us a complimentary dessert but to contained nut products so instead they brought us a card congratulating us on the honeymoon. I did however order some sort of caramel apple tart. It was pretty good but not the best.

CaliGrill-18-Dessert.jpg

By this time it was almost 9pm time for Wishes. We went out on the observation deck and it was already full but we managed to find a spot next to the door which was good for Brandi, she is afraid of heights. I'm surprised that she didn't freak out when we went outside but I guess we were close enough to the doors that she could run in if she got too scared. The fireworks were amazing from the observation deck. What a great way to end a great day!

Next edition of this trip report is day #6 Hollywood Studios 20th Anniversary!
Wow the trip is almost over! NO!!!!!

Such a bummer about the oven that cooked the flatbreads being broken b/c those are freakin' delicious! There is always next time! :thumbsup2 I can relate to the fear of heights on the observation deck...just imagine the wind blowing and being able to feel that thing swaying in the wind(maybe it was just in my head, but I swear I felt it moving) and me and dh were all the way at the very end the furthest away from the door you could get (he wanted us to have a good view...obviously he missed the memo on his lovely wife wigging out about heights.) It was worth it! Cali grill and wishes is the perfect evening! :thumbsup2

Beautiful pictures. What camera do you use? (Sorry if it's been asked before and I've overlooked the question.)

Some beautiful pictures.

Three I want to ask/comment about:

1) The picture of the castle from Main Street where the flowers are at the bottom of the picture. Of a oft-photo'ed landmark, that picture is BEAUTIFUL.

2) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad pic....I have a similar looking pic as my wallpaper that I found from allears.net Where did you have to stand to get that pic?

3) Fireworks pics from observation deck. Again, wow....amazing pics!
