Hello!Quick question! I took The magical Express from the airport to my disney resort just over a year ago and now i can't seem to remember does the magical express get your luggage for you and bring it to the hotel OR do we get our luggage and bring it with us? I don't know why but im drawing a total blank!! thanks for the help!

When you book your DME reservation, they will send you your info packet, with yellow luggage tags, about 4-5 weeks before departure. There will be one tag per person...if you need more than that, just call them and they'll send out more.
Tag your checked bags with those yellow tags. Then, when you get to the airport, go directly to DME checkin on level 1...ground transportation. DME CMs will pull your tagged bags right out and take them to your resort for you.
It will take up to 4 or so hours after you get to your resort to get your bags though.
The other change is that DME doesn't get your tagged bags for you anymore if you arrive between 10 pm and 7am...the bags will be retrieved first thing in the morning and delivered to the resort then. So, if you arrive late at night, you may want to consider not tagging the bags and getting them yourself, and bringing them to the bus with you.

I'm going to jump in with a question, how do you get your luggage from the resort to the airport? Do they pick it up in the hotel lobby or what do they do? Just curious as we'll be going with a 4 year old and I can't see lugging our huge bags through the airport. Does the ME take them right to the luggage check in for us? I hope?

If you're flying home on a participating airline (see the "Participating Airline" sticky at the top of this forum), you can check in for your flight and check your luggage through to your final destination in or near your hotel lobby - the counter will be easy to find or you can just ask someone. If you're flying on another airline, you bring your luggage to the bus with you and the driver stows it underneath (tipping for luggage handling is customary, but not necessary on inbound DME-delivered luggage because Disney takes care of that).

Ok, it's been a while since I've flown with checked luggage, so I'm drawing a blank, too! I'm helping a friend plan her trip in February. On the morning they check out, can they take their checked luggage to Bell Services and check it in and let DME take the luggage to the airport?

No, DME doesn't handle luggage on the return, but if you're flying on a participating airline, you can check them in at the RAC desk. You must have them checked in no later than 3 hours before your flight departure time.

As far as I'm concerned it is the most magical part of magic Express!!!
Your luggage magically appears in your room without you ever touching it again after checking it in at the airport. Now that's magic to me.

You can expect about 70 - 90 minutes full trip from the minute you deboard until you get to your resort.

There are no set times, set groupings of resorts, order of resorts, etc. Normally they wait for the buses to fill up.

That being said, I go the Saturday after Thanksgiving and they don't even wait to fill up the bus, since they are bringing so many people back to the airport that day. We literally got in line, were ushered onto the bus and sat there for about five minutes and took off. We landed at 9:05 am and were standing in our resort at the entrance at 10:00 am.

Depends on what you mean by 'typical wait for the bus'. It can take up to 15-20 mins (depending on walking speed and stops along the way) to get from your gate to the DME checkin area. Then, it can be fro 1-15 mins checking in...only one time have I waited more than 15 mins and it's usually closer to 8 mins. After that, you will be sent over to the bus lines. Your resort will not be the only resort on the route..there will most likely be three resorts, but possibly four. The wait for the bus, in line, can be from 0-20 mins...depending on how quickly the next bus comes along. I got to the front of the line just as they closed the ropes, so had to wait 20 mins for the nex one. Most waits are about 10 mins average.
Then, you may get on the bus, take a seat and the bus will leave immediately. But...you could also sit there for 15+ mins...depends on where you are in the que. Get on the bus first??? Have a longer wait.
Then it's off to the first resort. That will take about 25 mins, maybe 30 depending on where it is. You can figure about 5 mins at each stop.

The average time, from gate to resort is about 70 mins.
