Magical Express without tags?

We made our ME ressies online a while back, and a short week before we leave, JUST realized our packet never came in the mail. I DO have an e-mail confirmation, but nothing else.

I called Disney ME, and was told it's not a problem. So long as I have the e-mail confirmation, I'm in the system and everything's OK. Oddly enough, they tried to look me up, and I wasn't in the system. I was told it was because I booked through DVC and their records are separate. I am supposed to call DVC to confirm (but they're closed on the weekend and today for MLK).

ME told me that the tags aren't necessary. They'll look for my luggage.

This is less than reassuring. We've used ME 4X in the past year, and LOVE it, but we've always had our tags. I'm pretty concerned that with all the travel in and out of Orlando, my bags will be lost sans the bright yellow tags. And, it's too near our destination date for them to send me a new packet.

Has anyone else had to use ME without the tags? What was your experience? How concerned should I be?

I haven't traveled without the yellow tags yet, except for the one time we had only carry-on stuff with us. But, I know that those that have had to go tag-less, haven't had any huge issues. If I were you, I would just grab my bags myself and have them put under the bus. Or you can check-in at the DME desk, tell them you have checked luggage but didn't have the yellow tags. They will either have someone go with you to baggage claim and you can show them which ones are your bags and then that person will take them to the DME truck, or you can give the person your baggage claim checks and they will get pulled that way.
But, I wouldn't worry too much.

If you don't feel comfortable having Disney pull your bags you can always get them and just bring them with you to the bus. It's not quite as "magical" but you'll have peace of mind.
