I had planned to use Magical Express, but... I found out they take you to the airport three hours before your flight. Do you save a lot of time using a Taxi Vs. Magical Express? How about cost of the Taxi to and from the airport? Ballpark figure?

Also, I am tempted to use Taxis to get between resorts at Disney World. I have heard that 1.5 hours between resorts is normal for Disney transportation. That is too much. By Taxi, I am sure it is a ton faster. About how much would it cost? I tried using the Mears website, but it didn't list all the resorts. Again, just trying to get a ballpark figure.

Thanks :)

Taking a taxi to the airport will save you a little time, but not much. A half hour to an hour tops. And that isn't leaving any room for a mishap such as bad traffic, or the enormous security lines you can sometimes run into at MCO. Only you can decide if an extra hour in the park is worth maybe missing your plane, if you run into a problem.

We have used a taxi a few times to get to or from ADRs. They do save a ton of time. Instead of an hour and a half spent hopping busses or monorails or boats you can take a 20 minute taxi ride. And you can get to pretty much anyplace around Disney property for $20 or so.

I highly recommend using taxis to get around on property. But I wouldn't use them as a time saving device to get back to the airport.

Thanks so much. A couple quick follow-up Qs...

1.) I assume the $20.00 is one-way, not round trip?

2.) How many hours ahead of time does ME pick you up to take you back to the airport to head home? Is the 3 hours I am thinking correct?

Thanks again :thumbsup2

1. yes, one way...depends on where you are and where you are going. For instance, cabbing it from YC to POP is going to be under $10, but from YC to AKL much more.

2. yes, DME picks you up about 3 hrs before flight departure. BUT...even when I have used a car service, I always ask to be picked up 2.5 hrs before flight departure. Why?? There could be an issue on the way to the airport, there could be long waits at security. Most airports recommend arriving at the airport 2 hrs before departure, and that's a wise decision. I would rather have an hour to kill vs worrying about missing my flight because there is an accident on the highway heading to MCO.

As far as cabs between resorts, it all depends on where you're heading to and from where. Let's say you're at BW and want to get to the CR. Take the bus to MK and then walk over to CR....time of about 40 mins including any waits. At Pop and you wanna get to PO??? Bus to DHS and the transfer to bus to PO. It seldom takes more than 45 mins to get from resort to resort.

I had wanted to do the same thing. I found out that the cab from WL to the airport is about $60. Not worth it in my opinion, just for an extra half an hour to hour.

I've taken a cab from ASMusic to the Contemporary...it was just under $20.00..I've also taken a van from the Poly to the Dolphin...that was about $15.00...just to give you some examples.

For early morning ADRs I think getting a taxi is a good idea...sometimes you get lucky with a bus, but not always

Another alternative to a taxi to and from the airport is to get a town car service. They meet you at baggage claim, help you with your bags and off you go to your resort. From what I have experienced, cheaper than a taxi for round trip and it includes a 30 min stop at a grocery store.
