magical express question

We have only used magical express one time and because our flight got in so late, our first night we stayed at the Hilton at the airport. So we claimed our own bags and then the next morning we checked into magical express with our bags with us. So they loaded them on the same bus that we took to the resort. The check in process took about 20 minutes and by the time we got to our room our bags were already there. My question is this...should we do the same thing again (claim our own bags and take them with us to check in at magical express) so that we can get our bags faster. The reason I'm asking is because we are taking a red-eye from the west coast and if we are able to get our room right away my family will be going back to sleep in the room for a few hours. If we have our stuff I will be able to unpack while they are all sleeping. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

I do not see why you couldn't do that if that is important to you. If it is not a hassle for you to claim your bags and carry them, go for it. I like the convenience of just getting off the plane and heading right to WDW.

I'm a bit confused. If you took your bags with you on the bus, you should have had them taken off the bus, when you arrived at the resort, and given to you. Then you would have had them when you checked in. Did you give the bags to Bell Services when you got inside the resort? And then they brought the bags to the room? I would have kept the bags with me, but that's up to each person I guess. If Bell Services had to bring them to the room when they came off the bus, then a tip is to be expected. That's not the case when DME takes responsibility for the bags.
If you want your bags with you, I would go to baggage claim and get them, as you did before. Then, they will go under your bus and you will have them when you are checking in at the resort, rather than waiting a few hours or so for them to appear. Just don't put the yellow tags on the checked bags and you should be good to go.

They were with us on the bus, then when we got off we were told they would be brought to our room. We never touched them when we arrived at the resort. I assumed we would get to our room first, therefore I was prepared to tip. However, the bags were already at our room when we got there, with no bellman in sight.
