I know this has been asked many many times, but I can't see to find the thread with the answer.

We arrive on American Airlines in Orlando at 8pm on Nov. 18th. Since we are arriving a little late we, want to have our luggage with us at the resort and don't want to have to wait till the middle of the night to get our luggage.

To bypass the ME Cast memebers picking up our luggage upon arrival, what do we do? Do we just skip the step of putting the yellow tags on our luggage if we want to pick up our luggage at baggage claim? Can we put the luggage on the ME bus ourselves instead of waiting to get them later at the hotel?

Now after asking that very important question, when traveling back home, do we just follow the normal ME procedure and put the yellow tags on our baggage? I'm aware that American Airlines is a participating airline.

don't put the yellow tags on your bags. When you arrive just go get your luggage yourself and then check in with ME. We did this in October and it was no problem. :sunny:

When using DME on your return to MCO you do not need to put the DME tags on yoru checked bags. In fact, there are no DME tags for checked baggage on your return to MCO.

You'll either be checking your bags in at the resort and pick them up at your final destination, or put your bags on the DME bus and check them in at the airport.

Thanks for the info. I forgot that there is no ME tags when leaving to go back home. We will probably check our bags at the hotel. That's what I was referring to. We used ME in December 2005 and had no trouble.

I was just curious about handling our baggage on our way to the resort.
We will definitely take your advice and not put the yellow tags on and pick up the luggage ourselves.

By the way which terminal is luggage claim? Is it the same terminal and level as ME? I think ME is on terminal A ground level? Is that correct?

Baggage claim is on both sides. It depends on the airline you are flying which side you go to. Then you will have to go to the DME desk.

Just remember that the hotel airline bag checkin isn't always open - it's from 5AM to 1PM, I think. Just stop by in the morning and you'll be fine, but I wanted to mention it just in case - I had no idea until I was checking in my baggage, saw the sign, and said whew - since my flight was at 5 and if I hadn't gone in the morning, I would have missed it.

You will go to the baggage claim area for your particular terminal...either side A or side B. If you land on Side A, you head down to the baggage claim on the same side. Then, you will go to the next level down (ground level) where you will find the DME desk. I believe that in Jan. DME will be switching over to Side B, but it's on A until then.
