I know there is a thread here somewhere, but I can't find it. Can anyone tell me what the differences are using ME when flying internationally. We've only used it flying out of the U.S. I'm not sure what to expect.

flying into Orlando out of Canada is exactly the same process as flying from a US city. Put the tags on your bags, check in at the ME counter once you get to MCO and your bags magically appear in your room several hours later.

Flying home you can use the ME to get to the airport but you have to lug your bags to the bus yourself, unload them at MCO and check them in with your airline. So really, flying home ME is a convenient way to get to the airport but that is about it.

I was under the impression that baggage service for ME was only available to those flying on one of the selected airlines. I'm heading down on WestJet in mid-January (first trip to WDW... yay!) and I was under the impression that I'll need to pick up my baggage before heading to the ME pick-up counter. Is that incorrect?

It makes no difference what airline you fly into MCO. The difference is when you depart. If you fly one of the selected Disney partner airlines (AA, Jetblue and a few others) then you can check you luggage at the resort for your return flights IF you are flying domestically in the US. YOu cannot use this service flying back to Canada regardless of what airline you fly.

To answer the last post, flying WestJet you can take advantage of ME. Simply put the tags on your bags and ME will pick them up at the airport at MCO and take them to your room. YOu do not need to pick them up at the luggage carousel.

We've flown West Jet and used Magical Express. We never picked up our luggage, they were "magically" delivered to the room without any problem.
Last time we went from Wpg to Calgary to Orlando so I made sure the ME tags were on and went through customs in Calgary and never saw the bags again until Pop Century. I wouldn't hesitate to use ME again. Kim

Thanks for the clarification. I'm flying YYZ to MCO via YOW since there were no Airmiles seats left on the morning direct flight. It's nice to know that I can just tag my bag, and have it delivered to my room when I get to WDW.

In that case, if I'm planning to hit the parks once I get to the hotel and check-in (it will be nearly 3pm by then), what should I bring in my carry-on backpack so that I'm not lugging around lots of unnecessary stuff?

9 weeks and counting to WDW...!!

WOW yyz-mco via yow?!?!?!

usually the direct yow mco flights are so limited, if you aren't quick here in ottawa, you are doing the yow-yyz (or yul)-mco ! LOL ! i haven't seen yyz yow mco!

as for the carry on bag: a change of clothes, swimsuit, medications, sunglasses, and whatever shoes you plan to wear in the park.

:O)

Thanks for the suggestion. I couldn't believe it either when the travel agent told me that Airmiles doesn't get access to all unsold seats when someone books by redeeming miles. It was either the YYZ-YOW-MCO flights or an evening direct flight from YYZ to MCO that would have arrived around 11pm. I didn't want to waste a moment of my time at Disney.

(Sits down by a fire with a book in hand)

Let me tell you a story of the great and wonderful Magical Express…. It all starts with a new married couple flying out of Halifax Nova Scotia headed for Disney world. They had a connecting flight in Toronto where the nice people at West jet reminded them they needed to put on their Magical express tags so that Disney would pickup there luggage. So as the Dashing newly married husband fumbled with getting the tags on the luggage until the nice west jet lady took pity on this dashing man and put them on for him!

The dashing man was a little worried being that he was from Canada and had herd so many bad stories from other people that his luggage was going to get lost! For the whole flight all he had on his mind was his luggage ending up in Alaska. Until he ended up in Orlando and the thrill of being an hour away from Disney overtook any worries he had about his Luggage. Once at the Airport the newly married man found his way to the Magical express check-in counter with his new bride, Once at the counter a nice man checked them in and directed them to talk to his “bother”. Now this normally wouldn’t be funny however the man at the counter was white as snow and his “brother” was a man of Mexican decent.

So the husband walked up to the man and said “your bother told me to say Hi” The man then started to laugh and pointed to the man at the counter! He then directed the couple to a line where they could wait for the bus. The Husband and wife were a little disappointed because they were the first in line so they figured they just missed the bus and would need to wait at least 30 min. where they ever wrong!!!! About 2 min later they were directed to a bus and on there way to the Hotel!

While on the trip the driver put in a Disney DVD giving the couple information about there upcoming trip and the return trip. Once the couple arrived to the hotel they checked in and went out for some dinner at down town Disney once they returned from their dinner and walk of downtown Disney they walked into the hotel room and there luggage magical appeared in the room. – No problems and it took about 2 hours –

They lived happily ever after

The End!

So remember kids the moral of the story is to use the magical express! Oh and it’s free :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Going home using Magical Express, all Canadian (and other non-U.S.) guests have to check baggage at the airport, not at the resort, regardless of airline. This is because the baggage has to be in hand going through customs.

SeanK, what a lovely tale with a happy ending!

I am even more reassured now that my bags will magically be picked up from the baggage carousel and will magically appear in my room once I have checked in. This is so exciting... Eight weeks, five days and counting!
