Magical express luggage question

We leave in 3 days and I have a question about magical express. We were planning on getting our own luggage but it sounds tempting to just bring our stuff for the next day in our personal item bags. Will Disney bring the luggage in the middle of the night or will they leave it at the luggage area at our resort for us to pick up?

What time is your flight scheduled to arrive? ME stops grabbing luggage at 10pm.

But yes, they will deliver it in the middle of the night if your flight lands before 10pm. You can ask them to hold it until you call, too. My preference though if I'm coming in late is to just grab it myself. It really doesn't take that much longer IME. Three times now I would swing by the washroom on the way to baggage claim, and by the time I arrived I only waited maybe 5 minutes before our bags came. I relax easier when I have my bags.

What time do you arrive? They stop offering service at 10pm. I would rather pick up my bags then have them delivered super late. I don’t believe you can have Bell Services hold them til morning since it is a separate company that handles Magical Express bags.

We land at 5:30 so not too late, but I’ve read stories of people getting bags much later than 3 hours after landing. We want to get a good night sleep since we will rd the next morning. So I would rather not have them knocking at 9 pm if we might be asleep.

I’ve received my luggage in the middle of the night for a flight that came in around 9.

Luggage is not delivered within three hours of landing.

Luggage is delivered within three hours of arrival at the resort. From day one, now approaching 13 years.
We've never done it before and I didn't read closely enough that it's 3 hours from when you arrive at your resort. We will definitely be grabbing our own luggage before getting on DME. I'm sure it doesn't take too much longer to grab it ourselves.

We have had them hold our luggage many many times. They do so without issue. It's something they are very used to doing for guests.

However, with the addition of online check in and straight to room texts this is now a very blurry timeline. If you stop at the airport to eat and wait on a friend and take 2 hours to get on ME, your bags aren't going to be another 4 hours after that. There is not anything that actually tracks what time you arrive at the resort now. Not like when they had someone greet guests coming off the bus or when you had to go to the check in counter. Things have changed, and the luggage timeline is one of them.

We always do that - does not take much longer at all. Some people say the walk is "so far" to ME from baggage claim, but we never found it to be long at all! :)

We will see how it goes on Tuesday!

Depends on which airline you fly in on. It can be that you have to go down, grab your bags, and then haul them up, over, and down again before bringing them to the bus.

OP--I think the way to go is to pack for the first 24 hours in your carry on (which is always a smart thing to do) and then have Disney hold your checked bags until you want them delivered. Why waste time in the airport if there is no need to?

Dh said today that he would rather just go ahead and get our bags. I think that’s what we will do this trip. We would have to pack a lot of things in our personal item for the next day (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc) that we wouldn’t have to pack if we get our own luggage.

Yep, that's what we do every time. As I said, we don't find it to be a problem. :)

According to the map they gave us with our magic express tags, it looks like frontier is on the opposite side of the airport. We are still going to get our bags because no matter what we will still be at Disney!

Absolutely! That's a great attitude...and keep it if you have to wait in a bit of a line for the Magical Express! :rotfl: We waited about 20 minutes last trip to board, but it was fine, all part of the anticipation of arriving (which is one of my favorite parts of trips anywhere)!

Have a fantastic trip!!!

Just make sure you don't put the magic express tags on your bags then.

Lol it wouldn’t be Disney without waiting in line!

I find it to be a huge hassle. Especially when there is no need to do it. I'd much rather head to straight to the bus and be on my way!:P
I agree, this is why I’m carrying on our luggage for the trip there (it’s a weekend trip) and checking it (so we can hit the parks before we leave) on the way back! I want to squeeze every minute out of this trip! lol
