Magical Express is temporary?

I just read a poster who had heard that after the Celebration is over, they will stop the Magical Express! NO way! has anybody else heard any rumors.

Its such a great idea for those of us travelling alone with kids, who don't need to rent a car and just want the ease of getting to the resort without the whole taxi thing.

I've actually been more under the impression that after the celebration it will be available for a fee instead of for free.

I wouldn't imagine after all the set up and buses and what not they would just do away with it.

Just my .02

I'm not 100% positive, but I've heard that they are offering the service FREE during the celebration. (Basically working out the kinks.) After that, they will start charging for the service. :confused3

I also would not be surprised if it was included for free as part of a package or for a fee if booking room only. One way to get people to purchase rack rate packages.

I don't think it will go away. They spent too much money buying buses to stop it after 18 months.

Ditto that!

I agree withthe above posters, but they recently extended the 'free' period, so maybe they'll extend it again!

I'm sure it will be included in part of a package. I hope so. I'd pay for it! I just hope it's not an arm and a leg. I'm paying enough just to GO to Disney already! :earseek:

If you go on the disneyworld web site and try to book for December 2006 -- even for just one day -- it says it comes with magical express. (Or at least it did last week, when I tried this.) I couldn't find any limiting language such as "this could be canceled at any time," although maybe when you receive the actual confirmation there is some caveat.

Magical express is great, our friends used it the past weekend. I hope it continues as we heard its $60 by taxi to get to the onsite hotels. I was thinking this same thing this past weekend, that it can't be temporary, why would Disney put all that money into painting all those busses!

I did the same thing...and it says that Magical Express is included. It didn't mention any extra cost. If they increase resort prices, I hope it is in order to keep the ME "free" so to speak.

Originally DME was going to be free until Nov.'06...but it looks like now they are going with the 'free' until the end of the year. After that I'm sure it will still be up and operating but for a fee.

The Disney marketing machine is not dull witted.

I would guess that they are finding out ME causes guests to stay on property and spend more, as they don't rent a car as often to escape the parks.

After mulling it over, I will be renting a car anyway, as it makes getting to dinner and the water parks much easier, we can stop at the grocery store when we want, and we get to and from the parks to the airport faster.

I'm sure that ME MORE than pays for itself in additional spending by guests that use it.

Why would Disney want to charge for it? Think about it. All those people that they pick up at the airport -- stuck at Disney World. No rental car to go to Universal or Sea World. No way to get to the store to buy a 6 pack of sodas or some sunscreen at Super Walmart. This is a no lose set up for Disney.
