Magical Express Extened Until End of 2006!

I was just talking to a CM who informed me that Disney's Magical Express has been extended until end of the year!

I got that information from a CM to-day too.

She said "I believe that it has been extended to Dec 31."

(She was a bit ambiguous.)

I don't want to sound rude, but this isn't new news... I thought this was part of the "happiest celebration on earth" and then there will be a charge for ME usage starting for 2007.

Who knows what the charge will be, Disney will be able to charge whatever now that they're put some companies out of business by offering a free service.

I think that as long as your luggage ig getting off at MCO and back on there your o.k.

We will be using it for the first time in May flying Southwest out of Buffalo.

Hi, I've kind of confused about the Magical Express too. I was told by the WDW reservations people one time that we had to pick up our bags ourselves in Orlando as we are coming from Canada. Thought that was odd as we already clear customs in Calgary, but whatever. But lots of different places seem to say they do get your bags for you. Does anyone know how it works for us Canadians.

By the way I'm going Feb 5th. Can't wait.

I have not had the previlege of using ME but the way I understand the process.

You have to make ressie in advance now, they will mail you luggage tags which you put on after you arrive at MCO. You have to get your own luggage and bring it to the ME location where they will load your luggage on the bus.

The process whereby they take your luggage for you is when you are flying with one of their Airline Partners, which there are none from Canada.

We used ME in October. We flew to Orlando from Winnipeg, cleared customs in Winnipeg, and therefore, did NOT have to collect our luggage in Orlando. We did not see our bags again until they were in our room at WDW. Upon departure, however, since we were flying back to Canada (obviously), we were pretty much with our luggage the whole time. Our bags were put in the bus we travelled to the airport in, and we were responsible for getting them to our security checkpoint at MCO. I'm sure if you don't clear customs until Orlando, however, you would have to pick up your own baggage from the airline's baggage claim carrousel.

We used ME in December and fly from Buffalo so that it was a domestic flight. We checked our bags in Buffalo and didn't see them again til they arrived at our room. We arrived in Orlando at around 6:30pm walked down to the checkin desk and then walked onto a bus. We were at MK by about 8:15pm so were pretty impressed with this part of the arrangement. Bad thing though was that our bags didn't arrive at our room til almost 1am -- we stayed at MK til almost midnight and got back to our room at about 12:30am so it wasn't that much later but if we hadn't been at our park we would have not been happy. On the way back we got picked up at POP (our resort) about 2 1/4 hours before our flight. Southwest isn't a participating airline so that we had to take our bags on the bus and check them in at the airport -- not a big deal really. Worked out great for us.

Next time we are arriving at 9:50pm in Orlando so will be picking up our bags and taking them to the bus ourselves but this won't be a problem. Southwest is amazing with baggage. Everytime we've flown with them our bags have been on the carousel by the time we got there from the plane. We've never had to wait for our bags to arrive so don't anticipate a problem this time -- we just aren't putting the ME tags on our bags.
