Is the Magical Express pickup/dropoff point at the place where you check in? Just looked at a map and I didn't see it, but maybe it's old. Can you check-in for your flight and check your bags like at the other resorts, and do they have a place where you can store your carry-ons until it's time to go? I'm assuming it's all like the other resorts, but it just seems different enough that I wanted to check.

Thanks!

You are correct on all points! It's just like the other resorts. Magical Express picks you up at the front desk. You arrange for bell service to pick you and your luggage at your cabin. They will also take you to your cabin.

Our Magical Express luggage was brought directly to our camp site (we were tent camping). There's a flight check-in desk, located at the "Outpost" (where you check into the campgrounds). I think you can check-in for flights until 1 PM, or thereabouts. That's where we also checked our luggage, through to our destination. While we didn't have to have any items held that weren't being checked, since there's what I would call a bell staff, similar to any hotel, I'd assume you could leave items with them to be stored.

You can do advance check-in, and leave luggage at the baggage area to the right of the FW "lobby / front desk" area (having a major senior moment, so can't think of the appropriate wildernessy name). You will need to make advance (per phone) arrangements to pay airline baggage fees for remote baggage check, and have that confirmation number available when you check your bags. They can also issue your boarding passes provided you have confirmed seats for your flight(s).

I don't know about leaving your carry-on, probably best to inquire, but I'm guessing this would be a function of the front desk since the baggage check-in area is manned from early AM until only about noonish. Nobody is there if you are actually departing FW later than early PM so I don't see how they could retrieve your carry on.

A word of caution: I got various, usually wrong, answers to inquiries about all of this from the front desk or by WDW phone regarding baggage checking: example of some RIGHT answers - you do NOT have to be using Magical Express transportation to the airport in order to check bags. You DO have to be flying on a participating airline.

Ok, thanks, I figured it would be the same, but thought I'd check to make sure.

That I don't have to do, because I'm flying Southwest. :lmao:

I'm doing the Ft. Wilderness Segway tour at...11:30am, I think it is, on my departure day, so I'll probably have to be out of the cabin before then, so that's why I may check my carry-on and other items, unless I find that I can leave them where I start the tour before then. I'll just have to see what I can find out.

Thanks! :goodvibes
