Has anyone used Disneys ME that have flown with Air Canada? Did it go well or would you suggest we pick up our own luggage at Baggage and just take the shuttle?

It went perfectly. We cleared customs in Calgary and our luggage arrived in our room 90 minutes after arrival. Delivery times depends a lot on time of day and season.

Hi debbiet1,

If you pre-clear customs in Canada or at a layover in the US you're fine. :thumbsup2
If MCO is your first entry point, you have to get your own luggage. :upsidedow

we're flying Ottawa to Toronto (told thats where we go through customs) and then fly Toronto to Orlando we get into Orlando about 1 pm

I suggest leaving your luggage with DME (take advantage of that service). You will be able to get to the parks faster that way!

The day we arrive we plan on just taking it easy anyways as we'll be up at 3-3:30 am. We'll be there for 12 days so DH says we have plenty of time to go to the parks. I think when we arrive we're going to get settled in, go for a swim and then maybe hit DTD then come back for the evening.

I guess that sounds pretty good then! No need to rush since you've got the time to relax. I have only gone on very short trips (3.5 days in the parks and 4.5 days in the parks) so I would leave my luggage if I could! But with 12 days, and getting up at 3am, get your luggage and lounge around the pool! :cool2:

Just another quich "vouch" for customs in Canada then DME working out just fine. go to resort, had a quick look around and found our luggage waiting in our rooms.

Used AC out of Toronto in Dec '06 with DME and things went perfectly. Expect your luggage 2 - 4 hours after you land. Make sure you pack a couple days worth of clothes in your carry-on just incase your luggage takes a side trip :lmao:

We flew from Edmonton to Minneapolis / St Paul to Orlando in 2005 with Northwest. They were currently on strike, so we were a little concerned for our luggage. Hahaha.. :) DME worked wonderfully and luggage magically appeared in our room an hour after arriving.. :)

That's funny when we flew to Orlando last December we had to clear customs there. Therefor we had to lug our luggage around the airport with us and on to the bus. It was a pain, thinking that that came included with the service.

I think it all depends on where you fly out of. In Edmonton, they clear you through customs before you even get on the plane, because we have to land somewhere in the US before hitting Orlando. If you fly directly to Orlando from Canada, I think you clear customs in Florida.

I'm pretty sure it depends on whether or not the airport has customs. When I flew out of Halifax through Boston, I cleared customs in Halifax, and when I flew Halifax through Montreal (or Toronto) I cleared customs in the aiirport in Montreal (or Toronto). When I fly out of Charlottetown, I go through customs in the last airport before the US. Coming home it is always through the first airport I land in.

Lol, this just tells me that I have no idea... Good to know guys, thanks! :goodvibes

well i thought we just got on the plane in ottawa.. didnt see our luggage until orlando, boy was i wrong. I was told that because we're flying out of Toronto we have to get the luggage from the ottawa-Toronto and then go thru customs in TO. So much for ok its gone no need to worry.

Hey. I work for WestJet as a flight attendant. Basically you will have to call Air Canada or whoever you are flying with and ask whether you will be pre-clearing or psot-clearing customs. In most major Canadian airports you will pre-clear customs, so when you arrive in Orlando you will not have to go through customs... if you post-clear (customs in Orlando) then you will have to have your bags with you in Orlando...

I know I haven;t explained much more than anyone else, but basically only the airline your flying with can let you know what the situation is for that flight...I am a flight attendant and I will still have to call WestJet to make sure when we arrive in Toronto from Vancouver to transfer to our Orlando flight that we will be pre-clearing customs...sometimes for whatever reason they set it up differently....

Yes that is correct. If you are not flying direct you will clear customs at your last point of departure in Canada.

Air Canada and Magical Express:

Last year we flew out with Air Canada and used the Magical Express and everything went really well. In fact, we checked into the Saratoga Springs just 90 minutes after landing. We even saw our luggage at Bell Services.

The problem was with Bell Services at the Saratoga Springs. They kept the luggage for six hours even after many phone calls telling them we were in our room, until finally my husband went over to retrieve the luggage himself. Very inefficient service and dishonest promises at the Saratoga. We were ready to buy into DVC but, at that time the Saratoga was the only one available and we decided it was not the home resort for us.

My tip for Saratoga guests? request the Springs section.
My advice for Saratoga admin? at those prices, everyone should have access to a golf cart.:wizard:

That's another upcoming thread though.
