Magical Express & Airport Hotel?

I am contemplating flying into the Orlando airport on the night before my reservation and staying at the hotel there, then I would go to WDW the next day so as to get the most out of the day. The hotel airport room would be much less expensive than adding on another night at the WDW resort. If I do that can I just go back to the ME location at the airport and get on there, or won't ME allow that?

Thanks!

You can do that. You could also book a room at a value resort your first night.

Consider using a car service to go from your airport hotel to WDW. The hotel can probably get you a flat rate car service for around $50, with no advance notice. You can also make a reservation with the service of your choice.
Get up, have breakfast, check out and you'll be at WDW in 30 minutes.

Alternately you'll have to wait for your hotel's shuttle to MCO, many of them run every 30 minutes. You'll then have to drag your luggage from level 2 to level 1 (DME pickup point), check in, wait for a bus and possibly stop in multiple resorts. Just miss the shuttle bus at the airport and just miss a DME bus and it may take 90-120 minutes. Ask (tip) the hotel shuttle bus driver if he can drop you off at level one near the DME location.

Thanks Lewisc!

I'm probably going to stay at the Hyatt right at the airport. Would I be able to just check out of the hotel and walk down to the DME location?

The Hyatt will probably be more expensive then a Disney value resort and won't be that much cheaper then a moderate. Rack rate at the Hyatt might not even be that much cheaper then a discounted deluxe rate.

I understand bell services will get your luggage over to the DME luggage area. Put the yellow tags on your bags after you check into the Hyatt. I'd definitely do that, your room might not be ready at WDW.

We will fly into MCO around midnight and have booked 2 rooms at the Hyatt for 5 of us. We plan to take ME the following morning. I decided what time I think we will be at ME, found a flight number coming in at that time, called Disney and gave them that flight number and time. What matters to Disney is that you have a WDW resort reservation and a flight number/time.

The Hyatt does take your luggage over for you; another advantage by paying a little bit more, rather than having to go through the hassle of renting a car.

Enjoy your trip!

We did exactly what OP wants to do.

We booked at Residence Inn near the airport for about $70. When we arrived and picked our luggage, we called the hotel and they sent a shuttle. We were shuttled to the hotel and got a nice night of sleep.

The next morning we took the shuttle back to MCO where they dropped us right at ME. We made our ME reservation for the day we wanted to us ME by giving them a "fake" flight time.

It worked perfect.

I am trying to do this also and they wouldn't take my information b/c I didn't have a flight number, just a time. The Disney agent said I had to have a flight number. Is this correct?

Yes, you need a flight number. The time could slip depending on all kinds of factors; weather, delays in connections, etc. That way they know you are on that flight and are getting there sometime that day.

I am curious about this too, anyone else do this that can give some advice?

It doesn't matter what flight number, just any flight number.

Looking at the MCO website, there is a JetBlue flight #768 that arrives from Ponce at 6:20 am and there is a Delta Flight #1480 that arrives from LAX at 6:12am.

There is also Alaska Airlines #10 that arrives from Seattle at 7:15am.

You could list any of those flights on your DME reservation, then get up the next morning, give your yellow-tagged bags to the luggage folks at the Hyatt, and they will send them on their way, and then you can walk down to the DME desk.
