We were visiting Busch Gardens Williamsburg today and found signs with a familiar vibe posted through out the park. (Photo below) They were advertising a 'cashless wristband.'
Obviously curious- I spoke to an employee and this is what I found out.
It is a paper wristband that you load with your credit card information, or can put a cash deposit onto. I was told that your information is not stored directly on the band - so no one can steal your info. You can use them for food and merchandise purchases. At the end of the day if you paid with cc then your band expires and if you paid with cash, but have a remaining amount you may go to guest services and be given a refund of the unspent portion, or if you do not go to guest services the remaining amount will be given to their conservation fund.
I didn't try it because I wasn't planning on making a lot of purchases. Just wanted to pass on the news that the competition is paying attention (of course) and doing their best to beat Disney to the punch.
Of course, it is not reusable and it doesn't have your park ticket on it..but still not a bad thing for them to have roled out already. They just started their Food and Wine Festival this weekend, as well with booths set up in each country. ( ..copy cats...
