Magic to do and fantasy to study - Disneyland, Cruise, and WDW PTR *ADR Update 11/9*

Hi, I followed you over from my thread. We definitely do have some similarities! I spy Buffy...Angel or Spike? Shot in the dark: were you a member of the Bronze posting board?

Angel or Spike, Angel or Spike....I CAN NEVER DECIDE. If you put a stake to my head, I guess Angel :littleangel:. No, I wasn't on the Bronze - these are the first boards I've ever taken part in!

Congrats on POFQ!!! I was initially booked at POR, then moved to CBR, but I still think the NO themeing is lovely.

I stayed at CBR in 2010 and really liked it. But I wanted to try something new :joker:.

super cute pic! Love how creative they were with the walls here! Also yay for turning 40 at Disney! I'll be turning 41 at Disney next year!

You will love it. LOVE IT. Make sure to wear your celebration pin. It was honestly the most magical day ever :stitch2:.

UGH I found out the production of Mary Poppins I was thinking of auditioning for is going up the weekend I'm in Disneyland. That's, like, ironic or something.

I haven't done a show for almost a year and I'm definitely starting to get a little withdrawal-y. Not that I'm wishing I'd done The Music Man for the third time, but I'm ready for someone to do a show I really want to do.

Here's me (well, the whole cast) from when I did CATS in 2013:

This will actually be the first time a Disney trip is interfering with a potential show. It's annoying...but I'll be in Disney so I guess I should just shut up about it :wizard:.

Funny, if very brief story - I went to an audition for a production of Thoroughly Modern Millie when I had only been back from a WDW trip for a day. I thought it would be a fantastic idea to wear the Mickey Mouse shirt I'd just bought to said audition. Somehow I got cast anyway. Just goes to show it reeeeeeeally doesn't matter what you wear to an audition. Or, red is just a really good color on me. :rotfl:

The "problem" with planning three Disney trips at once is being, shall we say, scattered. One week I'll be obsessively researching the cruise. The next day I'll remember something I wanted to look up about my 5K in Disneyland. Later that same day I'll find myself reading about every single hotel at the World.

So in the spirit of FOCUS, I'm compiling a list of all the food I want to eat/try for the first time while on my three adventures (to be updated as necessary):

Mickey pretzel
Tonga Toast
Beignets
Cookies and milk delivered to my stateroom
Dill pickle popcorn
Mickey ice cream bar
Tigger tail
Any cupcake (seriously, I've never had a Disney cupcake)
Nutella strawberry waffle
Mickey waffles
Mickey pancake (I LIKE MICKEY SHAPED FOODS OKAY?)
Vanilla swirl Dole Whip
A ridiculous, fruity drink of the day
Corn dog (or three)
Croissant in WS France
Anything covered in caramel in WS Germany
Fish and Chips in WS England
Breakfast on our stateroom verandah

(I'm not really into fancier foods, added to which I'm a picky eater, so it's very likely that another person's favorite will not be my cup of tea. Meaning recommendations are welcome, but not guaranteed to be taken :stir:)

An acquaintance got engaged at WDW today at the Peter Pan M&G. I am in no way bitter or jealous that this happened for her instead of me. OH WAIT.

But I really, really, really don't want to be that person. So I am drinking coffee out of a Tigger mug and plotting my revenge. Or just drinking coffee out of a Tigger mug.

Anyway.

Let's talk runDisney. Specifically let's talk how my BFF K is DEEPLY into running and running Disney races and has gotten me to, as she puts it, drink the kool aid. Or, as I call it, the kook aid. Because I HAVE LOST MY DAMN MIND RUNNING IS STUPID THIS IS ALL HER FAULT.

:dance3:

I'm currently into week 4 of C25K. It's actually going a lot better overall than I was afraid it would. That being said, OH MY KNEES. One started giving me trouble during tap rehearsals for 42nd Street a few years ago and I twisted the other during a rehearsal for Hair last summer, so I'm treading that fine line between strengthening my knees and crapIoverdidithavetotakeafewdaysoff. True confessions: I hate going to the gym. Hate it with the fire of a thousand suns. But I also hate that I don't have the body I had at 25, so I (try to) go nevertheless.

So why oh why am I doing this?

.............

...because there are characters on the race courses you can stop and take pictures with and I think that is super cool and I want the pictures.

This is a totally valid motivation. TOTALLY VALID.

(I also think it will be very, very neat to walk around the parks wearing my medal like I saw everyone doing at the DL half marathon weekend last year. And in costume. Yes, I am planning a costume.)

On the bright side, training for the race is giving me something solid and positive to work towards which I really need right now. Since I'm not getting engaged at WDW. NOPE NOT THINKING ABOUT THAT
LALALALALALALALALALALA.

I'm an Angel girl all the way. :woohoo:

Hah. I'm sure you wish them all the best, yada yada. But if she did happen to trip going down the aisle... :rotfl:

Joining in! I have a friend who started training a few years ago for the RunDisney events while in her 40s and is now doing the half marathons and loving it! You can do it!

And what part where you in any of the Music Man shows you mentioned? I played Mrs. Paroo in the Jr version when I was a Sophmore.

Welcome!! Thank you for the encouragement - I am pretty sure I will never want to run a half marathon ever in life...but then I said I'd never run a 5K, so.... :-)

The first time I was a dancer, second time a Pickalittle lady. When I'm old enough (or ten years after that when I look old enough), I'd LOVE to play Mrs. Paroo!

That's exactly what she said too!!!

Haha I'll have to see if I can scrounge up and old picture. I definitely didn't look old enough to be the mother haha! My best friend and I did the mother daughter lines for the song in our sleep apparently one night when spending the night after dress rehearsals. My mom swears she heard noises and when coming to check, we were both asleep and doing that.

Joining in! I'm another 2016 planner, although we are end of January/beginning of February.:yay:

We are also kind of neighbors! We are about 3 hours to your west on the Iowa/Illinois border. I wish we made it to Chicago more often. Where do you fly out of? I've been looking at prices for our trip (I know it's early), and they are SO high right now. Last time we did SW out of Midway, but right now United out of O'Hare seems cheaper.

My favorite color is purple, soooooo, THANKS DISNEY FOR NOT OFFERING PURPLE. ;)

My DD8 is very mad that Disney doesn't have a purple MB! :upsidedow

So glad you're joining in! The more the merrier!

I fly Southwest out of Midway as much as possible because I hate O'Hare about as much as I hate running :). I'm pretty sure that's what K and I are doing for our cruise. As for my solo trip, however, price will be a little more of a factor, so if a flight out of O'Hare is cheaper, I will probably grit my teeth and do it.

That is wonderful :lmao:. Musical theater creeps into your head and stays there. Many a time doing a show I will go to sleep with the same song running on a loop in my brain until what feels like THE END OF TIME. Also I'm pretty sure I still have half of Music Man memorized.

I could probably still recite most of it. I helped with sets design/painting and makeup as well, so was there for like every rehearsal whether if was actually in the scenes or not. Best friend was Marian... I was also her understudy.. So we both knew those lines by heart too.

18BGZ0-HERO.jpg

So I bought these today.

Soon to be worn on every Disney trip I take ever and ever (or until they fall apart).

(It's possible I also bought a villains pair. It's possible I have a problem. FTLOG, keep me away from Hot Topic before I spend the rest of my paycheck.)

Allow me to introduce the spawn of Satan- I mean my cat:

image.jpg

This is Merlin. He is a cute, fluffy ball of evil. Last time I went on vacation (to Aruba, not Disney I KNOW) he did unspeakable things on my bed. I love him anyway.

He decided litter box time was optional/made me lose sleep over the weekend (he's fine), so I spent a lot of time reading and contemplating where I might like to make an ADR or three come fall. I'm definitely going to do Kona Cafe because I've never had Tonga Toast and I am the queen of brunch foods so I don't know how this has happened, but otherwise I'm not sure. I don't want to spend a lot of time at TS places because, as previously mentioned, I'm just not all that into "food", but I still want a couple of other times I can just relax with my book and have a calmer meal. I'm thinking Beaches and Cream, perhaps, since I never got to eat there when I stayed at the Beach Club, and maybe the Sci-Fi Diner again because fun, and maybe Olivia's for another breakfast because did I mention that I am the queen of brunch. Also, if I can manage it, maybe BOG for dinner, because...well...I can meet Beast and that would be cool. I really can't justify more than one REALLY expensive meal, so I'm not sure what I'd default to if I can't get BOG. Maybe I'll just have popcorn that night instead because I've never done that. (I'm lying. I've had popcorn for dinner many, many times. SHUT UP I'M ALL GROWN UP AND STUFF.)
