i will be purchasing Memory Maker when I head to WDW. If I want Magic Shots taken, will I need to ask the photographers? Is there a list anywhere of what shots are available?

Thanks so much.

Generally though, it doesn't work if you ask for a specific shot (at least in my experience). Just ask if they have a magic shot.

If they ask you to "Act cold" for instance, you'll know that it'll be an Olaf shot so if you've already done that, then you can ask them if they have another. I also sometimes ask if they have any of the less common magic shots (sometimes what they think is "less common" isn't really).

Advice used to be that photographers with a tripod don't have magic shots, however, the last few trips I have found that NOT to be the case. People with tripods do animated magic shots (not all of them, but some of them) And if they do (again, in my experience) they automatically do the magic shot first and then just regular ones (so when you ask them if they have any magic shots, they'll say they already took it).

Not sure if this hold true any longer either, but with the exception of the ghosts at not so scary, they don't do magic shots at night.

It has been my experience to ask, every photographer. The only exception to that is don't even ask the photographers at Meet and Greets. It holds up the line, and they are going to say no, every time.

Every time I asked a photographer about magic shots they told me they were added automatically. And only photographers with tripods could do them, so I was told. After a few of these lectures I stopped asking. We had lots of magic shots in our memory maker as well as some animated shots from DHS during Frozen Summer of Fun. Most I didn't even ask for.

In dec I was told the shots are not automatic by a few photographers.. I really wanted the snow globe and only was able to get one. (the guy at the entrance to Epcot and the guy by the fountain in France both told me the same thing.

Also; not all photographers take them, but they usually can direct to one that does.

DH asked a photographer for a Magic shot of him holding Tinkerbell and she was really excited that he asked her for it, so I think it depends on the photographer. That ended up being the only Magic shot we got for the whole trip.

We always ask ... just be polite about it. Apparently, please and thank you are in short supply in this situation. We got tons of magic shots on our last trip and had varying responses each time we asked. Some said they were automatically doing them and others were glad to do random ones as we asked for them. We were telling one photographer how much we loved them and he did 4 different ones! A few photographers asked if we knew which ones we already had and we always told them we hadn't checked yet (we like to be surprised when we get home) and they just ask us to tell them if we have done a pose already and they will choose another one.

A big surprise one this last time was Baymax!

Our Dec trip was our first one with MM, and we loved the magic shots. We just asked every time we got a picture if we could do a magic shot. Some said they didn't do any, but no one was rude about it. Most of them seemed really excited about it. We had lots of Christmas ones since it was Dec. We actually had one PP photographer sneakily take one while DD and I were just sitting and waiting on a curb in AK. That turned out to be one of my favorites because it was completely candid.

The quality og those shots in the link

is just not very good. For the price you pay you would think they would take the time to get the expose correct. I am a photographer and there is no way I could charge for most of these shots. Just not worth the money they ask you to pay.

I agree with this partially. We got some excellent shots when the photographers took time and really tried to capture the moment. When it was crowded and they were feeling rushed, they just snapped a quick photo and it usually turned out pretty lousy.

Overall, for the volume of both photographers and photographs taken, quality is quite good.

I didn't ask for any Magic Shots in December, and we ended up with a ton! We had a few animated ones too.

Here's the thing about this shot: First off, we had no idea about this one until we got home and had I known, I would have asked to pose a bit differently. The animated of this shot is great though!

STUDIO_STUDIOARCH_7476874377_opt.jpg As you can see, Baymax is great, but you have no idea we are behind him. There is a bit of DH's shoe on the left, and a bit of his ear and hat to the left of Baymax's head. Had I known this was a possible shot, I'd have had us leaning out to the side, so it is sort of like we are photobombing Baymax. The kiddos could have been peeking under his arms and stuff. As it stands, it is just a cute pic of Baymax (which is cute in its own right ;) ).

Oh...yea. It makes no sense to take that shot the way they did. Definitely should have been posed to be peeking around him or something
