Just got off of the Disney Wish last week on a 4 night (Nassau & CC) and considering another DCL with our extended family next year. We were fortunate enough to book an AFT Extended Verandah, that was INCREDIBLE! Cruise went by in a blink of an eye, the kids had a BLAST and I wouldnt mind doing it again since I just started getting a feel or where things were located and then it was over, lol. The same rooms are available for the same cruise next year which is so tempting. OR, for about the same price do we do a 5 night on the Magic with Oceanview and Interior Rooms and visit Lighthouse Cay, CC & Nassau . Feeling very torn! Hubby and I sailed on the Wonder 17 years ago, don't mind the older ship but after being on the Wish wondering how our kiddos (we have 5 of them ages 4-17 when we sail next year) will feel. Would love any input from seasoned DCL families! Thanks in advance!

The Magic will have a better itinerary although it's my least favorite ship

Magic is a sister ship of the Wonder but since it's been so long, it won't feel the same at all. Plus, you'll get an extra night. LC is getting a lot of criticism right now, but I think eventually those issues will work itself out.

Yeah, I am not overly impressed with LC, but 4 nights on the Wish felt short so we wanted an extra night. Hoping things get fine tuned before we get thee one day! All of the beautiful infrastructure at LC looks beautiful there though!

I have sailed on the Wish, Dream, Fantasy and Magic and the Magic will always be my favorite ship.
Dream has 5 night options but it is $2k more for the same ports/stops and out of Ft. Lauderdale which would be further from WDW. We are forcing either way but makes more sense to go with the Magic…Dream is on my bucket list though!

Gosh, strictly for the extra night, I would go on the Magic!

I haven’t been on the Wish. I have more Disney cruises (and nights) on the Magic than any other cruise ship. Next in the list is the Wonder. Part of that is itineraries.

Based on what you wrote, I would say consider repeating the Wish. My first two cruises were the Wonder, a 3-night followed by a 4-night four months later (with a different set of family members).

It is sort of the Summer Camp mentality - go somewhere you enjoy and repeat. The first year, you are exploring and feeling it out. The second year, you feel at home. And in your case, you get to introduce family to it. You could easily feel like it’s a longer cruise, as it’s more cruising and less orienteering.

And you found a cabin you like that’s available. It’s like a bonus.

If you really enjoy cruising - and Disney cruising - it is easy to do it over many years, giving you an opportunity to try them all. You don’t have to have a Full House (the first five ships) in your first five cruises. And if you tire of cruising, not doing more ships shouldn’t be a big deal.

Bon Voyage!

The Magic and Wonder are still my favorites. Even with all the differences in the ships, the oldies are still the goodies.

The Magic is still my favourite, and the Wish is my least favourite. But that's like saying that dark chocolate is my favourite and milk chocolate my least favourite. I'm still gonna eat both. And each ship has its pros and cons. Some of those will depend on the purpose and plan for the trip. I like the lounges better on the Wish than on any other ship, but if I'm not spending a lot of time on the ship, that might be irrelevant. I don't like the adult-only pool area on the Wish, but if I'm not spending a lot of time there, it's also irrelevant. We tend to focus on the timing/schedule, what our intent of the cruise is (ports, relaxation, sail with friends, etc.), and where it's going (if we even care) rather than the specific ship. While the Wish is my least favourite, we're sailing on her again in November because it meets with my schedule and allows us to sail with friends because of their schedule. We won't get off the ship, the adult-only pool area will be unoccupied and available while at Castaway Cay, and we're there to spend time with friends, so the lounges and other spaces to chill in will be perfect for us. I also liked the Wish better after the second cruise so I expect I'll find more to like on the third time.
