I thought that magic mail was discontinued back in 2015 but have seen it mentioned again in recent posts. Has anyone been able to do this recently? (dropping off a pillowcase or photo mat at guest services for characters to sign) If not, do you think there would be any objection to having characters sign a photo mat at the breakfasts and meets on board? Tia!
Can't wait for our first Disney cruise! Eeeek! So excited!

I doubt that they've reinstated the former practice of dropping off items at Guest Services for character signatures. You can bring items to the character ops for signatures, as long as it's flat and firm enough to sign on while standing.

I'm not sure about the breakfasts. In the past (under the original Character breakfast format) you could bring autograph books. But there was a little more time with the characters then (since not all table were full). The current breakfast format (with full tables) there may not be time for more than a quick picture.
