We have 19 days till we go to disney world. 3 days. It's me my DH DDs 8,4. we will be going to epcot on our first day with an early breakfast at akrus at 8:30. Next day we will be doing HS. We have a ADR at 50s prime time for 5:30. The last day well be doing MK. I'm going to do rope drop to head to fantasy land first off. Our fast passes are scheduled after lunch. This is our first disney world trip. We want to see wishes so well be staying all day. We are also staying offsite. Any suggestions on how to make it from rope drop to wishes at MK?

The only way I would be able to do it is with a nap! :) Several years ago when we went, we stayed on property and went for rope drop, stayed until lunch-ish, back to swim/nap, back for evening festivities.

I'm interested to see what others say!

Yea I'll do ok I might be alittle tired but we are planning to go to universal the next day so we are going to sleep in as well. I just don't want the kiddos to miss anything. My 8 year I don't see having much of problem. I'm brining a stroller for the 4 year old that day.

No way I'd be able to make it!:lmao:

You can go over to the Poly and take a rest on the beach. They have hammocks. I would definitely say, you need a sit down rest some where. Otherwise find a park bench and sit and rest for awhile or go into the Presidents Hall of Fame. I think that is a 30 minute show.

I think it depends on your family. We tried, but just couldn't make it. If it were just me, I would have pushed myself to stay until fireworks, but the other adults were just too tired to do it. Especially when you have early mornings every day, then spend 7-8 hours in the park, and do that over and over. By the end of the week we were really tired. Your best bet might be sitting down for lunch and dinner, that way you get a break. Or just taking time to rest in between doing things. And definitely let the kids stay in the stroller a lot, so they don't get tired. Also have snacks to give them so they aren't hungry all of the time. And drink lots of water. We took in a cooler with a bunch of water bottles every day. One bag checker at Epcot told me that their water fountains are filtered water, so you could even just take a bottle for water and fill up at the water fountains, too. The bottom of the stroller makes a great spot to store a soft sided cooler. We left ours in there when we parked the stroller and didn't have any problems with it at all. :)

You could watch wishes from the beach at the Polynisian, they also have a water parade before wishes. After it is just a short walk to Ticket Transportation Center, this is where you have to park for the day. If you do this you will be ahead of all the people leaving the park for the day.

We've done it a few times! My youngest missed the nighttime parade because she fell asleep tho.

You can certainly try it but I'd be prepared for it to be a struggle. My four kids (15, 14, 13, 11) all badly wanted a break by 3 p.m. on our MK rope drop day and we'd had a relaxing day at the pool the day before as a recoup day. They are all athletes too so the walking wasn't the issue. It has more to do with the constant stimulation and crowds, I think. People underestimate the drain on energy it is to be in crowds of other people.

We were offsite too but took a break from 4-7 (back in the parks by 7:45). How far away is your offsite hotel?

I would definitely consider a break midday. If not, an in-park/resort break would be my second choice. Maybe a ride around on the monorail, resting on the TTA, a sit down lunch, etc.

Yea I'm not going to push everyone. it's suppose to fun not stressful but I think if we make it it will be worth the LONG day. might have to push DH in the stroller awhile lol. any other shows to take in at MK?

We did it when our boys were young (ages 3 & 4) and then again (ages 6 & 7). They fell asleep many times throughout the day and were out solid on the monorail on the way to the hotel. The first full day, our 3 year old fell asleep at dinner and was out all night....didn't even wake up when we put him to bed.

Both trips were in the fall, so it wasn't too hot. During their usual nap times, we did the Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise which let them rest. They were on the smaller side, so even when they were 6 & 7, we rented a double stroller so they could rest.

We are a very active family though, so you know more what your family can handle - and if they can sleep anywhere like my boys could.

It is possible, but just make an effort to allow them time to rest. Otherwise cranky kids will drive you and everyone around them nuts.

Monster Inc laugh floor, Hall of Presidents and Mickey's PhilharMagic.

You're braver than I am! I'm 24 years old and need a good nap in the middle of the day at Disney! Lol

I see you have food suggestions, but I'll throw Carousel of Progress out there as a good air conditioned show type ride good for a break.

Do your kids stay up late normally? Mine have never had an issue, but they require very little sleep. Last year, we got to DHS at 8am, went back to the resort to change into our MNSSHP costumes, and didn't go to bed until 2am the next morning. We were back in the parks by 10am. :rotfl2: Our kids go to bed at 10pm on school nights, and midnight (sometimes later) on weekends, so they are used to long hours. All kids react differently at WDW, though. You will have kids who normally nap at home that will be too hyped up to do so there, and on the flip side, you will have kids that never nap at home who will tucker out midday. Just be flexible and go with whatever your kids end up needing to do.

We miss rope drop by usually 1/2-1 hr or so and last year we stayed till closing at every park. My kids were 5, 3 & 15 months. We had a double stroller and bought a cheapie that could fold up underneath and had it as back up incase all 3 were tired. They all alternated naps in the strollers everyday and we would use that time to do different rides or take in the scenery. We are going this year so they will be 6 (turning 7 while there), 5 & 2 and plan on doing the same thing! They lasted all day and night and were fine. They zonked out on the way home though! lol

We did arrival at 9:00am... stayed through Wishes...

DD(4 at the time) napped mid-day in her stroller, we kept going...

DD stayed up and watched Wishes, then crashed during the stroller ride to the exit...

We knew we were headed to HS the next day, no need to make it an early arrival, so we slept in and then went to the parks... even being 4 she wasn't miserable...nobody else seemed to complain, (4 adults).

We go slow through the sections though, see everything, etc., ride a few things twice, (3 times if your lucky), circle back and ride that favorite again, etc.

Also, you'd be surprised how much time can be spent waiting in line to see a character or two... Aladdin and Jasmine and Woody and Jessie were the worst lines!!! They took a break every 3 kids deep...

We just did it last Thursday. We went for EMH at MK starting at 8 a.m. and stayed until just before Wishes with no breaks or naps. My 7 and 5 year old did great until about 9:45 p.m, so we left without seeing the fireworks (almost 2 hours past their regular bedtime). I also rented a stroller for both of them so that they would last the day. Both of them fell asleep in the car on the way back to the hotel!

I'm glad I'm not the only one lol. I'd rather take it slow and enjoy the park so not rushing around will help some

We've done it prekids, have done not quite rope drop to after Wishes with kids....I recommend at least a dinner ADR, preferably at a monorail resort, getting out of the parks for a couple of hours helps refresh us, we usually do dinner at Ohana. A lunch ADR is nice too if you can swing both, we love the Plaza.
