I've noticed on Disney website 1 day ticket for Magic Kingdom has been taken off sale for new years eve and hopper tickets for 1 day for new years eve been taken off sale.
Would there be restrictions on re-entry on new years eve at any of the parks for instance you want to leave the park and go back to resort for swimming them get changed and go back to the park for the evening/night would that be restricted on new years eve?

I believe park reservations are sold out for NYE at MK and Epcot. MK will reach capacity that day.

This is the first year without most guests requiring park reservations so there are some unknowns, but considering the have already stopped MK and PH ticket sales more than 7 weeks before NYE, it is going to be a busy day.

Unless a guest has an AP with a Dec 31st MK park reservation or, a one day MK ticket, entrance into the MK will likely be restricted. I would plan to be in the MK by mid-morning and not leave as re-entrance is not guaranteed.

My experience going during that time was MK on 30th and Epcot on 31st. It is easier to get into Epcot on NYE and MK runs twice. Epcot runs once.

Just a note that re-entry/PH experiences are best shared for experiences 2019 and prior. Anything from 2020-2023 is a different experience as park reservations were required and PH was occasionally limited.

My experience is 2019 for 2020 NYEs. Plus general knowledge of Disney. Magic Kingdom runs their fireworks and is open to midnight 2 days. Epcot only one. Epcot has much higher capacity, so it is more likely to spend your NYE in Epcot without issue compared to the more limited Magic Kingdom.

It's sounds a very busy time new years eve at Walt Disney World. It's the same in London with the underground trains when it gets too crowded they close the gates.

I thought it had been that if you stay on-site, you are guaranteed admission to a park, but if the park is at capacity, you won't be able to get into that park. and re-entry is also not a guarantee of getting back in.

No, there is no guarantee but at the same time, since reservations were stopped it only happened once or twice I believe that MK stopped admittance for a bit.

I think I remembered it happening during spring break park hopping was temporarily paused but for new years eve it might a bit more busier if WDW took 1 day ticket for Magic Kingdom and park hopper options off the sale for new years eve.

Yes, my earlier posts in this thread share that it might be busier and there is no guarantee guests will be able to re-enter it hop.

New years eve base ticket for Magic Kingdom is still on sale on undercover tourist website but not the official Walt Disney World website. Maybe undercover tourist website forgot to take Magic Kingdom new years eve off the sale.

so to confirm.. if I have the one day magic kingdom ticket I am guaranteed re entry...correct?

I have a related question - I am an AP holder with a MK reservation on 12/31. We have a dinner reservation at 5:30 PM so our plan was to head over early afternoon (vs morning) but is there a chance we wouldn’t get in? Similarly if we were to head early to do rope drop and leave for lunch, is there a chance we wouldn’t be allowed back? It’s not clear what the actual reservation means 🤷‍♀️

I’m in the same boat as you. Nobody is going to be able to answer this and if they try to they’re just guessing. This is the first post-Covid year when park reservations have been dropped for most tickets except for AP’s. In years past AP holders with restaurant reservations would be amongst the highest priority when phased closures occurred, but in present-day Disney AP holders are undesirables who are not as highly valued as day ticket purchasers, so who knows.

Yikes. I’m hoping the fact that the ADR is for Cinderella’s Royal Table it’ll carry some weight since it’s already paid for but that’s just wishful thinking. Fingers crossed for all of us undesirables!!

I answered on the other thread, but I don’t know re-entry is guaranteed without a possible wait (for some guests to leave). It has always been advised on NYE to enter the park and stay in the park.

FWIW, I chatted with a CM this morning online and he confirmed that as long as you are an AP holder with a reservation, you will be able to enter the park at any time, or leave and come back. I took a screenshot of the chat should it come to that but hopefully it will be a non-issue.

Does anyone know if 12/30/2019 reached capacity and at what time? We don’t need park reservations and don’t want to be stuck all day at MK. We have several ADrs in the evening and are staying onsite.

That is a general response which is accurate probably 360+ days a year. However if the park reaches a full closure nobody gets in regardless of reservation, ticket type, chat screenshot, etc. The theme park reservations terms & conditions do state admission is not guaranteed. Such closures are typically temporary and the gates re-open eventually, but you could be waiting a while to eventually re-enter.

You will be allowed to leave -- though moving through the crowds to get to the exit may be challenging but not impossible. You won't be forced to stay all day at MK. If your evening ADRs are at another park, you may want to consider simply going to that park for the day.
