End of June. My question is what time does the sun start setting and the lighting gets nice?

Tell me your favorite time bits of touring MK in the evening (before 10)

In the summer we will typically rope drop, afternoon rest and then back to MK after 6 or so. Sunset will typically be between 7:45-8:45 ish. We love the MK at night and you will find later openings during the summer. For rides, lines will go down during parades and fireworks. If you don't care about seeing Wishes from Main Street - plan to be on the back side of the park. BTM and Splash are great to ride during Wishes.

I think the back side of the castle are is lovely at dusk: where Peter Pan, The carousel, Pooh and now BOG is! It is very open and everything is kind of short, and I love how intimate the space feels with people and fireworks and stuff!..Maybe it's less hectic because there aren't any thrill rides in that area, but it just seems a little special and happy.

I love the walkway along the river of America near Country Bears . . . . the view across the water with the castle, and river boat in the distance, with the still slightly blue sky, and the lighting reflecting off the water is just amazing right at dusk! One of my favorite evening views in all of Disney World.

I would love to ride the steamship late in the evening. I think when we're there it closes at 8. So does that mean the last ride leaves at 8, or the last ride would be at 7:3ish (it's every half hour, right? On the hour and the half?)

Agree with all PP'S.. The backside of the Castle is great, less lines on rides usually and definitely less crowded. We've gotten ice cream and sat relaxing waiting for Wishes. Last year happened to be walking thru the queue & riding BTMR during Wishes.. It was amazing!!! Such a cool experience :) it's really nice to just saunter & take everything in, in the less crowded areas of MK at night

We were in MK last week and we were surprised at how dark it was after about 8:30. We weren't meandering, we were trying to get somewhere and honestly, it was DARK and hard to see. We weren't running, but we couldn't walk as quickly as we wanted to. Epcot was also sort of dark. Hollywood Studios did not seem as dark and we maneuvered well there at night.

Magic Kingdom is so special at night, there is something magical about the twinkling lights - it can feel like a totally different place.

Don't miss Big Thunder Mountain. Its even more intense at night and one of the scenes has effects you won't see during the day. Jungle Cruise at night is fabulous too.

Wishing you a wonderful time!

Basically it means that the last person can enter the queue line at 8. It takes, at least, an hour for everyone to actually leave the park. If they have an event closing then they will probably stop it earlier and you will see CM's work their way from the back of the park toward the front ushering guests to the exit.

My favourite after dark ride at MK is the Jungle Cruise. A completely different experience & vibe at night. Make sure to try it if you get the chance. Big Thunder Mountain is a close second!
