Magic In Paradise: 10/8-10/15 2011. All cruisers check in here. (#2)

FYI, The Magic has left Barcelona starting her trans-atlantic voyage home to PC. Our cruise is getting closer. :cool1::cool1:

Nice. Looks like DCL is in transition time. The Magic just started a 14 night voyage home and the Wonder is in Drydock till her cruise back to my home on the 20th.

Thank God because the idiocy that is my life just keeps going. Today's idiocy involved me fishing my cell phone out of the washing machine:lmao:

Sorry. DW decided that her phone needed some cleaning several years ago. Did not end well. Oh well she she wanted a new phone and a good excuse to get one. :lmao:

As happy as I am to see that she's on her way back, I'm a little bummed I'm not with her now! DH and I have done this WBTA twice (both w/o kids) . . . best cruises EVER!

Ya know, if this wasn't such a fun group I'd be seething about not being on this crossing. Cause we could afford the TA this time. What we couldn't afford was airfare:scared1:

Mine better end well. This IS a new phone. I haven't even had it 6 months:rolleyes1

Yep, that's what gets us too. The o/w airfare is more then the cruise itself! We would have done it next year, but the Magic isn't going :sad1: So instead, I talked DH into us doing a B2B next Sept for 13 nights into Seattle and home from LA. (Alaska and Pacific coast)
I love the longer cruises, and we would have tried to get on the Hawaii cruise with Alan, but that was right in the middle of DDs college graduation. Sacrifices we make for the kids! :lmao:

Well Dan:

I guess we're both crying at the end of tonight.

But WTH does the coolest car of the night have to be Kyle's? :sad2:

CRT is not usaly at the top of the list, but for this day it seemed appropriate. One question, when did they start doing a princess meal in Germany? I thought that was at Norway.

:rotfl: LOL!!! You're right Alan!!! It was Norway! And it is realllllly good!
And I do hope our first time (fall 2010) was a 'fluke' and y'all have a great time and food! And fyi..for anyone...we got our breakfast in Norway WALKING up to the cm's at their outside 'checkin' stand. And there were several of us, who had tried online or on the phone, and no ressies available, but it seems that in the morning, one cm said, people 'just don't show up'. Bad for them, but great for walk ups!:goodvibes

Ok, and y'all bear with this newbie. What is the WBTA? Is it something like West/westbound? Barcelona Trans Atlantic? or what? And if this is hysterically wrong, forgive me, it's just a guess on what y'all said. How long is it? Are the prices better? Is it 'just cruising' to get back to PC or do they have excursions? Please no flaming...I'm just really curious, and would like a quick summary. And WHY is it better? And how often do they do this and is it on the DCL website or do you type in something special?TIA:thumbsup2

You're close - West Bound Trans Atlantic = WBTA :)

It's a longer cruise and has like 6 sea days in a row. We have friends on the ship right now.

Oh and they are usually realy cheap but as everyone mentioned the airfare over is often more than the cruise.

Thanks Lisa! I have seen that and wondered exactly what and where and how much. So Do they have excursions? Or is it a straight shot back? Thanks for answering my question..it's still very interesting and this chik may have to get more info for our next one!:thumbsup2

Oh yeah, last fare i saw for this crossing was LESS that what we are paying for this cruise. And it was higher category. But the airfare was 2-3 times that per person. INSANE:headache:

So I'm assuming you're flying into Barcelona? If so...:ouch:!!!

:offtopic: Ok y'all...This IS an off topic statement... But can I say, in 6 minutes my homemade blueberry poundcake is coming out of the oven, and it is a SHAME that y'all don't live down here! We'd so be having a slice with a cup of coffee (or tea, or whatever)! Just to celebrate our 4 weeks out!

And of course, they are hand picked blueberries as our tradition has been for the last 20 years every summer! 3 gallons this year! Wish we could share! Can y'all smell it? ;)

I'm pretty sure they go to a few ports before they leave Europe and then usually CC is their last port before Port Canaveral.

:rolleyes1 Guess I'll have to check into this one for 'rebooking' on board!! I've always wanted to go to Europe...and told dh that was next on 'my list'! Thanks!

Here's the itinerary for the WBTA

2 At Sea — —
3 Gibraltar, U.K. 7:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m.
4 At Sea — —
5 Madeira, Portugal 8:30 a.m. 9:30 p.m.
6 At Sea — —
7 At Sea — —
8 At Sea — —
9 At Sea — —
10 At Sea — —
11 St. Maarten 7:15 a.m. 5:30 p.m.
12 Tortola, British Virgin Islands 7:30 a.m. 3:45 p.m.
13 At Sea — —
14 Castaway Cay 11:15 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
15 Port Canaveral, Florida 7:30 a.m. —

Other than Hawaii, I can't think of a Disney cruise I would rather take. I love sea days as they are generally more relaxing than port days. Two weeks on board and all those sea days would be heavenly.

Wow! This does look AMAZING! Course, my biggest obstacle in booking 2 weeks is my dh's work schedule and 'bidding' for vacations. But here's hoping! We are die-hard WDW go-ers, up early, stay late and always on the go, a-n-d dh is more into the Kingdom. But in 4 weeks, we shall see!:goodvibes

Unfortunately, with the Magic now heading home, there are currently no announced European or transatlantic cruises, but perhaps they will go in 2013. However, I've read that the 2013 itineraries may be released in October, and possibly even during the week that we are on board. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
