We have booked with virgin holidays including transfers. We are staying at the POR and I have just found out we can do ME. Do I have to book this or is it better to stuck with the Virgin transfers already booked in the package?

Hi, tbh there isn't much in it. With VH you will have a shared Mears shuttle van or a coach if its a busy time of the year. POR tends to be the third drop with VH shuttle (OKW, POFQ then POR) and you could be waiting a while for the rest of your passengers or they for you depending who got off the plane first and got their luggage first!!! The same goes for ME you could hop straight on and be away or wait a little while. If you decide ME then yes I would book it.:)

If your booked with virgin I'm sure they use magical express we have used both mears and magical express with virgin maybe ring and check before you book extra

Have used Virgin's transfers once. From the airport it was a Mears coach and went to Downtown Disney resorts before any Disney resorts. On way back to the airport it was the Magical Express so had paid for a free transfer.

they never use ME on the way from the airport but often do on the way back to the airport. :)

Sometimes they may use a DCL coach from the airport. Either way they are all run by Mears, ME included.

Thanks for the advice, I think I might just stick to the virgin transfer, seems less hassle :-)

Anyone know what stop YC is or am I better getting ME, am I correct in saying their buses go direct to individual resorts? I'm sure last time we stayed at SSR and just went straight to the hotel with no other drop offs?

ME always drops off at multiple resorts and the order is random. You could be lucky and be first stop or you could be the forth (4 is usually the maximum).

If you have VH transfer I *think* they may charge you an amendment fee if you remove them after booking but if you don't cancel they will be waiting for you which doesn't seem fair to the other passengers either :confused3

The ME transfers can be a bit hit and miss as they won't set off of flights are expected and the coach isn't full enough to go. Ours made three stops (four if you count the two at AKL for Kidani). We set off after about ten minutes of waiting and it was only around 40 mins until the last stop. Others had been waiting half an hour, so 70 mins in total.

With Virgin we were straight in a taxi but tbh there wasn't much in it.

This is a good point we have sat on the coach waiting to go for 30 minutes before - its all luck if you are put on a bus just about to leave or one that's just started boarding.
